My heart hurts after this book. Things are still pretty new for Alexandra and Bradford in the beginning of this book. His overwhelming love and devotion for his wife just melts my heart. The fact that he wants her with him at all times and guarded when he is not around gives me tingles. You can just feel the love. His acquisition of Janet is proof of his devotion to Alexandria. Even though he feels the actions are sort of unnecessary he still goes through with the fight in order to make his wife happy. Shortly after their return to their home Bradford is faced with a war. Even though this was his ultimate goal he quickly finds that he has bitten off more then he can chew. You can feel the devastation from Alexandria after she is forced to part from Bradford during this time of war. The waiting and not knowing if Bradford's safety is a great concern. Once things have settled after the war and high prices are paid Bradford and Alexandria get to enjoy married life. But the inability to produce an heir to the throne ends up placing Alexandria and Bradford at a crossroad that is heartbreaking and devastating. The need for the next book is palpable.
