I have read all of the books in this series and frankly found this one a bit boring compared to the others. Just the same old, same old: Pepe is smart and Geri isn't. For me, the series has long since run it's course. This book made Geri look really dim-witted. Then when several other characters began hearing dogs talk, that just put it over the top for me. The first book of the series is the best.

Paws down, the best installment of this series! The Barking Detective mystery series is one of the funniest cozy series there is. No matter your mood when you’re reading one of these stories, Chihuahua, Pepe, is more than sure to bring a smile to your face. Author(s) Waverly Curtis has out done all past books in this series. THE SILENCE OF THE CHIUAHUAHS is filled with book bursting mystery and fun! Honestly, every chapter was better than the one before. And every suspense filled, witty page led to an action packed reveal that had me wide eyed and holding my breath! In between the chapters are mini chapters that are Pepe’s Blog. They are absolutely priceless! If this is your first time reading a book in this series, be prepared to be thoroughly entertained. Returning readers, you will not be disappointed. All readers are in for a barking good time! As if this book isn’t wonderful enough, A CHIHUAHUA IN EVERY STOCKING, a short story originally only available in eBook format, is included at the back of the book!

This was a most enjoyable cozy read, a combination of three main cases to be solved. Geri finds danger at every turn and without Pepe's help, she would be lost. While I am more of a BIG dog person, I could not help but fall in love with Pepe. He has gigantic ego and loyalty. His love for his person is what convinces him to quit speaking to Geri. If I could find his blog, I'd be a subscriber. His personal experiences are legend!! As annoying as Amber is, I'll admit she added much to the story, especially the exciting final chase scene. All of the characters were nicely developed. The three main elements and other side storylines blended well together and kept the pace moving quickly and smoothly. I am hoping we will interact with the secondary characters again in future episodes. They are a well rounded group of unusual personalities, both human and canine. As much as I wanted to keep turning pages, I also wanted to linger and make the story last. I did receive this book via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

All hail Pepe the world's most heroic and adorable detective. Waverly Curtis's Barking Detective series is fast-paced fun, filled with a wonderful array of talented canines and quirky humans. No animal lover should pass up this adorable cozy mystery series. In Silence of the Chihuahuas, Pepe has taken a vow of silence in hopes of making Geri appear more normal. Fortunately for us, he has started his own blog. Unfortunately, Geri is all the more vocal, because Pepe has stopped talking, drawing more attention. Her best friend Brad has disappeared, and she finds his client dead. The police suspect Brad. Meanwhile Geri's sister has called from a psychiatric facility claiming that someone is trying to kill her. Without the muy clever observations of detective Pepe, Geri is on her own. Don't worry, Pepe will find a way, after all he is the barking detective. Waverly Curtis's novels are fun for all ages of animal loving mystery aficionados. Silence of the Chihuahuas is a funny mystery in which anything can happen, and frequently does. As a bonus, the publisher includes a Christmas short story never released in print - A Chihuahua in Every Stocking. Muy Bueno! 5/5 I received a copy of Silence of the Chihuahuas from the publisher and netgalley.com in exchange for an honest review. --Crittermom

Great Series! This is a great series; this is the fifth book in the Barking Detective series by Waverly Curtis. Geri Sullivan’s best friend Brad is missing, her talking dog Pepe has stopped talking. Geri is now lost without Pepe’s detective work. Geri needs to find a way to get Pepe talking so he can help her solve this case. If you are looking for a fun mystery then you need to read this book. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series. A Review copy was provided to me in exchange for a fair and honest review. The free book held no determination on my personal review.

The writing team of Waverly Fitzgerald and Curtis Colbert Have written one of the funniest series that I've had the honor to review. I was happy to read about this small, but mighty, (in his mind) chihuahua named Pepe Sullivan. Being the lead in the series, Barking Detectives isn't an easy job, just ask Pepe. This is the 5th book in the series, and I truly almost made myself sick, because I laughed so hard. FTC Full Disclosure - A copy of this book was sent to me by the publisher in hopes I would review it. However, receiving the complimentary copy did not influence my review.

This is a very fun and light mystery. Pepe, the talking chihuahua, has decided to give Geri the silent treatment. Geri tries everything to get him talking again as she struggles to find her missing friend and solve a murder without Pepe's guidance. This series has evolved through the books and I like how the characters are becoming more complex. I especially like how Geri and Felix's relationship has progressed and how he has come to view her relationship with the talking Pepe. While this is part of a series, it is a stand alone novel. If you are looking for lighthearted fun, you have found it in this book

This is the first time I have read anything by this author. I loved the cover picture and the description sounded interesting. At first it was a bit hard to follow, however, I believe that's due to the fact I haven't read any earlier books. I was able to become familiar with the characters and was able to follow along. Geri Sullivan is an aspiring private investigator and works with her chihuahua Pepe. The unique thing about this story is Geri can understand Pepe when he speaks to her. Unfortunately, everyone thinks Geri is crazy, so in order to protect her, Pepe stops communicating with her. When Geri's best friend disappears, it's up to her to find him. A bizarre phone call from Geri's sister adds to the drama, and of course, Pepe's blog is definitely a fun addition to this humorous story. The story is well written and the clever story line will leave the reader begging for more. I enjoyed this story and would recommend it to friends. I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for my fair and honest review.

Pepe is so smart so cute I can see him in his little grey fedora. Read just one story and you will be hooked.
