Meet Jane Hawk—a remarkable new heroine certain to become an icon of suspense. “This gripping thriller grabs readers from the first few pages and sweeps them along to the rousing finale.”—Booklist

“I very much need to be dead.”

These are the chilling words left behind by a man who had everything to live for—but took his own life. In the aftermath, his widow, Jane Hawk, does what all her grief, fear, and fury demand: find the truth, no matter what.

People of talent and accomplishment, people admired and happy and sound of mind, have been committing suicide in surprising numbers. When Jane seeks to learn why, she becomes the most-wanted fugitive in America. Her powerful enemies are protecting a secret so important—so terrifying—that they will exterminate anyone in their way.

But all their power and viciousness may not be enough to stop a woman as clever as they are cold-blooded, as relentless as they are ruthless—and who is driven by a righteous rage they can never comprehend. Because it is born of love.

Don’t miss any of Dean Koontz’s gripping Jane Hawk thrillers:

Praise for The Silent Corner

“Gripping . . . The paranoia and mystery increase as the story unfolds. . . . Koontz has created [a] wonderful character in Jane Hawk. . . . Koontz rocks it again.”—Associated Press
“In this era of stingy text-message prose, Mr. Koontz is practically Shakespeare. . . . The Silent Corner brims with both action and emotion.”Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
The Silent Corner is vintage Dean Koontz: paranoia-fueled suspense . . . sleek and highly realized action, developed characters, and more twists and turns than any two ordinary novels combined. . . . As relevant to current events as it is audacious . . . amongst Dean Koontz’s finest contemporary work.”Mystery Scene
“A proven specialist in action scenes, Koontz pulls off some doozies here. . . . The book is full of neat touches. . . . And the prose, as always in a Koontz novel, is first-rate. Perhaps Koontz’s leanest, meanest thriller, this initial entry in a new series introduces a smart, appealing heroine who can outthink as well as outshoot the baddest of bad dudes.”Kirkus Reviews (starred review)

I have been eagerly awaiting this new series and being introduced to Dean Koontz's new heroine and the bad guys she faces. It does not disappoint! Thank you for sharing your gifts and shining a light on everyday heroes facing threats from a world corrupted by greed and avarice. You give me hope that we can and will always produce good people, courageous people who will fight to ensure that we continue as God intended. No pedantic lecturing in these books...just great writing, well balanced, with reminders that those unseen divine mysteries of life and those forces beyond this life are working behind and through these characters. Exciting novel that propels the reader through each page. Jane and Travis are now part of the family. And I anticipate what comes next. Second book on preorder....

This story is superb. But is it a story? The premise is truly scary, yet totally possible. I hope it is just a story, without actual foundation. I'll be waiting for the continuation. Hope it's soon.

This is a good book with plenty of action and suspense. Not my favorite book of his but definitely worth reading. The end left everything hanging to ensure you read the next installment.

As much as I've loved Koontz over the many years, I'm disappointed by this book for two reasons. First, it's not his usual expected haunting story. I cherish those reads. Secondly, to have it be a continued story that I have to wait for.... saddens me Please return to weird Mr. Koontz Many of us love that about you

This is the fifth and last book in the series. If you are looking to get this book, you must already know that it is a series, one which I feel must be read in order. There is SOOOO much I want to say about this book, but I do not want to spoil it for anyone who is an avid reader of the Dean Koontz Jane Hawk series. One thing I can say is that when you finish this book, the story is over. Jane has taken up with another very lovable and strange character who I think, from the way the book ended, almost has to be pulling at her heart strings. I don’t recall chuckling at any time in this book. Too much serious stuff to be giggling about anything! The writing is so spectacular; it takes no effort at all to put myself right into the action. I was so worried as I read. Would I be devastated or will I be happy when it’s over? As I’ve come to find, no one individual is ever immune to death in the Jane Hawk series.

I usually read James Patterson Novels, I used to read Dean Koontz but Patterson has more character series He writes about.I also have a couple more author I read but none were available that I wanted to read. I noticed this Novel when I went to Barnes & Noble ,since I read some &got interested in the character, I bought both series 1&2 I just got through reading the first book. It was so good I had trouble laying it down. It keep me wanting to read more it was that suspenseful. Dean Koontz did not let me down. Great Reading? Helen Olguin

Well written with very well developed characters. Unlike most of Dean Koontz’a books in that it doesn’t end... it just stops. I’m going to get the next book in the serious ... something I don’t do when an author pulls this nonsense... but because it’s Dean Koontz, I’ll go for one more.

I couldn't put it down. So intense I need a break before continuing the series. You may, too.

I don't want to read about this much evil with most everyone's minds erased (except the heroine) without even an ending after several hundred pages.I'm done. And so I won't read the next book or the next or any within this storyline. Too dark, too sad and ...not that good . I won't play Manchurian no more...sorry. Sadly cause I usually really like Koontz.

Great read and leaves you wanting more. I wish some of the caricatures would have lived but can't wait for the next book.

This isn't so much about this book as it is about Koontz. Remember Koontz's Frankinstein series? Well I read this and apparently each book is a continuation of the same story. No real denoument at the end. Much the same as Frankenstein. His Frankenstein kept us waiting forever for a denoument. When it finaly came it was a huge disappointment. Mailed in. In a word lousy. While his writing is fairly good in this book I'll not be suckered again. Stick with his stand alones. Buyer beware.
