Overview

The Silver Thread by Emigh Cannaday

Talvi Marinossian has slain maenads and fought off vampire attacks, but nothing has prepared him for getting involved with one of these forbidden 'Modern Girls'. When he finally tracks down Annika it's obvious that she's changed since her recent adventure in his homeland. It's also clear that she's not ready to embrace the next chapter in her life. He tries to persuade her to open up to him, but she finds it difficult since he won't even explain how he earns a living, why he has a secret cell phone, or the reason he keeps another woman's handkerchief in his pocket. Instead of relying on Talvi to help her adjust, Annika delves into her music and her job, and it isn't long before the new lovers find themselves completely out of sync with one another. Just when they start to find their rhythm, Talvi is called away on business and whisks Annika off to Paris for what is supposed to be a working vacation. But one bad decision leads to another, and the chaos that ensues may cost someone their life.

You'll enjoy this edgy & dark blend of New Adult Urban Fantasy and Paranormal Romance if you're a fan of Laurell K. Hamilton, Kresley Cole, Donna Grant, Charlaine Harris, Karen Marie Moning, Jeanine Frost, J.R. Ward and Lynsay Sands.

I love, love, love everything about this series. The plot twists, the characters and the amazing world that Emigh has created.

I really liked the complexity of the characters and worlds and for this being a fantasy book the situations seemed like they could happen. However I didn't like it as much as the first book. I felt like it contained a lot of information that was repeated a lot and could have been condensed, making a long book feel long. Even though I liked the complexity of the characters, their personality seems quite different than the first book.

I received an advance reader copy and an audiobook and volunteered to review the story. The Silver Thread audiobook has the same great voice actor as The Flame and the Arrow! Talvi and Annika come together again but they discover that love takes work and they seem to have a lot more to deal with while they are staying with her brother and their friends. Being married and realizing they need to rely on and and share with each other is difficult for both of them. At times, I became annoyed at Talvi and even Annika because they didn't seem to be trying to care for and be there for each other. Finn is amazing and selfless and he and his father straighten Talvi out. I thought the punishment Ambrose set for Talvi was priceless, including the conversation Ambrose conducted with Talvi while he was digging, not realizing that Annika was there the whole time overhearing everything, just as Talvi's father planned. The cliffhanger ending is intense! 5 stars for the wonderful, flowing writing of Emigh Cannaday and for her creative fantasy world, prophecies and all!

A captivating read. The Silver Thread by Emigh Cannaday is the second book in the Annika Brisby Series. In this book, Annika and Talvi work on trust and their relationship. Having only known each other for three months before marrying, there is a lot to learn about the partner. Annicka must look beyond Talvi’s lothario history with all his secrets and acknowledge his loyalty to her. Talvi, never having had a relationship before, must learn that it takes more than love to make a marriage work. As the relationship entwines, Annika must learn to accept that she is no longer completely human while Talvi must learn to accept the Modern Girl. Will the two come to terms? The end of the book is a cliff-hanger. I had to rush to buy this next volume to see what happens next to the couple. Thanks, Ms. Cannaday for writing such a captivating book series.

Talvi and Annika thought they went through a lot to be together when they were stuck in Talvi's home world but they had no idea just how hard it would be once they were back in hers. After being suddenly ripped apart at the end of the last book Talvi quickly takes up the search to find his wife again and that search leads him to her home town of Portland. Though it's not exactly the happy reunion he had in mind. This book did a complete 360 from book one. I have to say Annika's attitude through a good chunk of the book kind of got on my nerves and Talvi was no prince either. It was like they were completely different people. But once Talvi's father gave them both a good talking to things started to work out. Being set mostly in our world threw me for a bit of a loop at first but once I got used to the differences I really enjoyed the story. I especially loved the visit back with Talvi's family and even though the characters aren't perfect I like seeing them work through their problems with each other. And with the crazy twist thrown in at the end I can't wait to find out what happens next! In my opinion The Silver Thread is definitely recommended.

This is the second book in the series... The first book left me not so sure about Talvi - he just seemed like a spoiled brat and I thought he would only hurt Annika... Apparently Annika felt the same... she just can't put all her trust in Talvi.... To make matters worse, brother Finn seems almost perfect.... decisions, decisions... I really enjoyed the way the characters are growing, and growing up.... I sense there may be some hope for Talvi after all... I hope there is anyway.... Can't wait for the next book.....

This is a great new series for me. The characters are not too young, but young enough to be spontaneous. The author allows them to be flawed and that created love/hate relationships with them for me. Lots of drama, adventure, and romance.

OMG!!!!! I can't believe what might have happened between Annika and Finn. I actually thought something happened. I can't wait for the last one, I hope if possible there can be others in the series like Sariel's also Hilda's story. I would so get those!!!!! But also would like Finn to find his true other half as well.

~~I received this in exchange for my honest opinion~~ I am so glad that I have stepped outside my comfort zone to read such a great genre. There is more mystery and strange things happening in this book than I thought could be in a book. Now that the group is back from their journey, there is much needed honeymoon time. But, while they are attempting to cohabitate with one another, Annika and Talvi discover things about each other that they don't like. Emigh's second book in the series picks up right where The Flame and the Arrow left off. Only this time, you get a glimpse into what goes on with some of the other characters. I laughed at certain parts in this book, I also got a little teary eyed. Again, Emigh's writing is amazing. She has a way with the words that make them dance off of the page. She really grabs a hold of you and makes sure that she doesn't let you go. I can't wait until the 3rd book comes out!!

Loved this next chapter of The Misadventures of Annika Brisby! It was great to learn more about Annika's life in America and see Talvi and Chivanni become more involved in Annika's life, probably a bit more than she was ready for. I loved all the unexpected twists that came up throughout this book. I was unable to put it down! The exciting and unexpected ending really sets you up for the next thrilling chapter for Annika and Talvi. I cannot wait!
