I read 'The Snowman' to a nephew whose father had passed away. He was grieving inwardly, unable to express his sorrow. The morning after I read this book to him, he burst into tears, the first since his father's death. I found that this book helped me, an adult, deal cathartically with my own father's illness and death.
Two young brothers deal with the death of their father. The younger pesters the older with questions that cause the older boy to finally cry (and deal with) a very personal loss. Beautifully written, inspiring, with a nice ending that makes you wonder.
