The Soul Genome: Science and Reincarnation based on 0 ratings. 2 reviews.
This book falls a bit below my expectations based on the title and sleeve liner notes. Paul Von Ward has presented a fairly myopic and one dimensional look at how reincarnation works. The Soul Genome is based on his opinion that our soul contains a type of modus(the "genome") which provides for most of our human traits to be passed from one incarnation to the next via this etheric DNA. This means that we continue to look very similar, pass on many distinguishing physical characteristics resulting from mostly injuries in the previous incarnation(s), and have similar thought patterns carrying forward the same tastes and bents. He attempts to validate this concept by listing out in exhaustive detail the "evidence" from approximately four different people who claim they have identified a past incarnation (typically a famous character from the late 1800's) who shared many similar physical and mental traits with their own. This book is an interesting read but there is nothing "earth shattering" and Von Ward, has in my opinion, has misunderstood a main aspect of reincarnation in that reincarnation is more about providing the opportunity for a fresh life experience and to become something other than what we were in the previous life. All said, there were allot of good ideas put forward and some useful and thought provoking concepts put on the table for further thought and discussion.
As I read , The Soul Genome, at around page 78, it occurred to me that this gives more fact to the Virgin Birth, the Crucifixion, and the Resurrection, if true. Faith is necessary now, if you believe in Jesus. But, just think about this, if the possibilities of the soul entering separately into the new person are so, re-incarnated or not, then a Virgin birth could rise into the realm of possibility, and the crucifixion of Christ as described could be more plausible, and the mystery of what appears to be radiation on the Shroud of Turin, could be possibly radiation to cause the Resurrection.
