A story of love, tragedy, and vengeance leads to a surprising consequence for a wonderfully in-love couple. None, except some deity of fate, could envision anything so devastating would befall them. What they experience would try the souls of most and challenge the strengths of all. The events of their life leading up to a horrible tragedy are told through the eyes of a distressed husband seeking to find the strength to go on without his beloved wife in a setting filled with her memories. The setting is a rustic cabin in the North Georgia Mountains where they have spent their most joyous times together. Suspense builds as their love and near-enchanted life unfolds. Not until the events of her leaving are revealed will the reader understand the extent of the tragedy, the character of the man reliving the story, and what lengths he will go to in attempting to recover her while seeking to bring justice against what has taken her from him.

For anyone who enjoys romance, suspense and tragedy with a suprise ending, this story is of a wonderfully in love couple, their life up to and beyond a tragic event that was so common in 20th centry America. The sitting is in and around the campus community of Athens, Georgia in the mid 1960's to 1970's and is focused on a fictional location in the North Geogia Mountains, where the couple's rustic cabin is nestled away on the banks of a pristene trout stream. The 'Steps' highlighted in the title are ones formerly used by the University of Georgia football team as they entered the stately Football Stadium called 'Sanford'! The author is a graduate of that fine University and has enjoyed the quaint sitting of Athens and the 'football wars' waged 'Between the Hedges' for many years. Recommended reading for any romantics, sports lovers and suspense addicts who love trying to figure out the cause and effects of stories intended to prevent the reader from putting down the story until it's resolved. The reader need not have a 'Gawga' accent to enjoy the story, only able to relate to the man, seeking vengence against an evil that has taken his beloved away from him!
