*I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review* I loved this book!! I was in a bit of a reading slump to be honest, nothing was quite grabbing my attention and then late Sunday night I decided I would just have a little look at this book.... four hours later and I was almost finished! I couldn't put it down. Georgia was a breath of fresh air. I may seem like I harp on about having stronger female characters but that's what I love in a book and I don't read about them often enough. I loved Georgia, for me she represented a real twenty year old girl. She has had her fair share of troubles, that can't be denied and she is still working through and learning to live with her personal demons but at the same time she is strong and compassionate.  After spending six months in therapy, Georgia is staying with her brother and trying her best to stay on the road to recovery. The last thing she expected or felt she needed/deserved was the instant chemistry between her and Ben Lancaster, her brother's newest hockey player. From their very first meeting the sparks fly and even I wanted them to get it on ;) Their relationship was more than physical, even though Georgia struggled to be honest with Ben about her past they both admitted they were wanting more from this relationship, this wasn't just a one time thing. Ben, Ben Lancaster what can I say about this guy, apart from Holy Freakin' Swoon (thanks B ;)) In the blurb Ben is described as the typical hot shot hockey player used to the fame, the girls and the money but I didn't see that side of Ben. From the first moment we met him he was the sweetest guy with his feet firmly on the ground, looking for a home to plant some roots (where does such a man exist, we need to know ;)) I loved the relationship between Ben and Georgia, although there was instant attraction and a whole LOT of chemistry there wasn't instalove and that got a thumbs up in my book. Their relationship was hot, I loved the author's writing style and I could feel the need and pure want between these characters. I was invested in their relationship and rooting for them all the way. The author also raised awareness of a very prevalent issue; mental illness. This was handled well and I felt for Georgia, I could feel her anxiety rising when things were out with her control, I was pacing the bedroom with her in my mind and again this is a credit to the author for her words and the connection I felt to them. This book doesn't have an almighty cliffhanger but yes things are left unresolved. We may only have a few months before the sequel releases but I urge you not to wait. I say read this beautiful story now. You won't regret it.

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. Spoilers ahead, so read at your own risk. The Stillness of You is the story of Georgia King, a 21 year old who has recently been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, and Ben Lancaster, a 24 year old hockey star. The story follows the two as they fall in love while dancing around Georgia's issues with the illness she's unwilling to tell Ben that she has. I finished this book Saturday night, but held off on writing my review because I'm still confused with how I feel about the story. On one hand, I LOVED reading Ben's perspective. I thought he was hilarious. He was hot, and the story had a lot of steamy moments. I understood Georgia and why she was afraid to tell Ben about her illness and her past. I even liked Georgia's brother, Matt, and the way he watched after Georgia and tried to protect her from herself. However, I didn't get how Georgia could jump into bed with Ben so quickly if she was so afraid of going back to the way she was before she was diagnosed. She didn't know him well enough to know the kind of person he truly was, but she definitely knew herself well enough. I did buy the attraction between the two, and I understand why Georgia wanted to be with him. But Georgia was so afraid of becoming like her mom, it was hard for me to reconcile that with her sleeping with Ben so quickly. Also throughout most of the story, it felt as if Ben and Georgia were almost always having sex, but there isn't a whole lot happening outside of that for them to be able to get to know each other to be able to fall in love. And for some reason, it bothered me that they both kept their eyes open for many of their kisses. That's just weird to me for some reason. lol There were parts of the story that I really connected with and didn't want to stop reading. Then, there were parts that I felt like I was wading through to get to something interesting. I'm giving this one 3.5 stars but decided to go with 3 instead of 4 since I still feel so wishy-washy and middle of the road on it. I'm glad I read it, and I would definitely read more by this author. I think maybe this one just wasn't for me.

This story revolved around a broken girl, Georgia King and a sex on legs, hockey player, Ben Lancaster. Sounds like your typical story? I guarantee you that is NOT the case! Georgia has been through a lot as a twenty year old. She has battled internal demons and is struggling to win that battle, daily. She has vowed to take control over her life and concentrate on herself, that is, until Ben Lancaster blows into her life on a Wednesday afternoon. As a little sister of an assistant hockey coach, Georgia knows all about these hockey players. However, she soon realizes that Ben is not your average hockey player. Georgia’s brother, Matt, is fully aware of Georgia’s past and tries his best to make sure that his little sister does not fall to the same fate she has in the past. He knows Georgia has the capability to ruin guys and he cannot afford for that to happen to his star player, Ben. "It would be tragic for me to ruin someone like Ben Lancaster, and that’s pretty much what I did. I ruined things. I ruined people." Georgia and Ben try their best to stay away from each other. However, there is an attraction that neither one of them can deny. Usually I am not for insta-love or insta-attraction. However, the author was successful in making it believable. You felt the electricity between Ben and Georgia throughout the entire book. “Do you feel this?” he whispered hoarsely. “You have to feel this. It can’t just be me..." Holy crap. Yeah I felt that, Ben. I loved that the book alternated between the POV of both Georgia and Ben. Being inside Ben’s head made me enjoy him even more. He has these ways with words that made me swoon. A lot. “Georgia, it’s easy to give in to something that feels good. But I don’t want easy. I’ve had easy. I want something worth hell of a lot more than easy.” Once Georgia and Ben give in to this attraction, Ben realizes there is so much more he does now know about Georgia. He has no idea what she battles daily and understands it won’t be easy to deal with, but he wants to love her anyway. Once the truth comes out, Ben is thrown, but determined more than ever to show Georgia that they can survive and deal with this. He is not willing to give up on their relationship. Holy. Swoon. Ben Lancaster. He said all the right things when Georgia needed to hear them. He’s hot, sweet, and just knows how to make you feel good inside. Yes he has all the requirements of the perfect book boyfriend. I could not get enough of him. Is love really enough? As an avid reader, this question comes up a lot in a lot of the books I have read. However, when characters are faced with what Georgia and Ben has to face, I really don’t know the answer to that. Overall, I really enjoyed this book. I think the author did a great job at allowing you to fall for Georgia and Ben. Even with all the challenges they face, you still want to root for them. I loved that Georgia is a strong woman and no matter what she realizes that she cannot be the person for Ben and be the lover he deserves until she can truly love herself. I absolutely cannot wait to see where their story takes them next

~Reviewed by ANN & posted at Under the Covers Book Blog Bale had a huge challenge on her hands, and in the end, I felt that she did a good job of keeping an accurate portrayal of the disorder while making it an entertaining read as well. ~ Under the Covers There were a couple of reasons why I wanted to read this: First thing is that Julie Bale is the other pen name of Juliana Stone and as a Canadian author, I definitely wanted to support fellow Canadians. It was also nice to see Bale make the hero, Ben a Canadian and a hockey player. But perhaps the big reason why I wanted to read this was because the heroine, Georgina has bipolar disorders. Mental illness has always fascinated me and that’s why I did my undergrad in Psychology. This book fit my interests to the tee and I wondered how Bale was going to face the stigma of mental illness and create a heroine that stayed true to the disorder while also making her likeable. Bale had a huge challenge on her hands, and in the end, I felt that she did a good job of keeping an accurate portrayal of the disorder while making it an entertaining read as well. Bipolar is a hard disorder to give your characters because emotions are so intense and vivid, resulting in manic episodes and depressive states. It’s hard to keep those characteristics there while keeping the attention of readers. I thought Bale did show some good symptoms of the disorder, but I also noticed there was a lot of telling, rather than showing. Most of the hard times have passed for Georgina and she feels as if the worst of the storm has passed and she is recovering, so readers only get what is being shared with Georgina. In the present, we don’t actually see too many of the symptoms of bipolar as G falls in love with Ben. I also felt that there was a lot of emphasis on the lust aspect than the romance in the beginning. Being flirty and coy is part of the disorder but I didn’t start believing in the romance until more than halfway through the book when Ben remained persisted. The lust in the beginning wasn’t enough until I knew that Ben was there to stay. I loved how unchanging and steady he remained for Georgina. He is definitely what he needed. I’ll be looking forward to reading THE CHAOS IN ME, the second book in the Beautifully Damaged series to see where Bale takes her stories next. *Copy provided by author

Having never read a JB book and didn't read any reviews I wasn't sure what to expect. I really liked the blurb about it and bought. In the first few pages I noticed that these main charaters are 20 and 24 yrs old! I noticed this because the auth tells you this repeatedly. Since I'm almost double this, yikes. I keep going anyway. The guy, a prof. hockey player. started growing on me but the girl (20) is way too immuture. (She was starting to remind me of A. Steel in that other one). This charater is just too immuture acting even though she has been written with all these crazy life experiance's. I did find it interesting the way the auth broke up each chap. by name and not page so you knew who was talking. I'm seeing that more and more. Since I didn't finish the book (couldn't handle her) I'm not sure why it's called The Stillnes... Since she/he were never Still? Maybe if I had kept going.

I love that the author wrote about such a dark topic and painted it in such a truthful and beautiful light. Millions of people are affected by mental illness every day. And guess what, they fall in love too. It takes a really powerful love to overcome some of the problems that couples experience with mental illness. That's why this story was so beautiful. Well that, and the writing and connection between the characters is really great. I raced through this book in a matter of hours.

Wow!!!!!  This book blew me away!  It was fantastic! Julie Bale has written a wonderful book that deals with an illness that many people are affected by.  She gives you a huge glimpse of what someone who is suffering from this illness feels like at all times. You see the residual effects it has left on those she loves.  This book is not a downer book, it is very uplifting.  A beautiful romance that blooms between two young people. The struggles of a new relationship and communication.  Her characters are unforgettable. I highly recommend this book.

For Georgia King, moving on from her past is a daily battle. For Ben Lancaster, the future is his for the taking. When the two find each other, passions explode. But for Georgia, will her past be more than Ben can handle? In Julie Bale's novel, we see a beautiful woman trying to survive with a mental disorder. It is a constant reminder of her imperfections and her feelings of unworthiness. This story was so touching and yet haunting by the doubt we all feel. Can we be forgiven for our past mistakes, will they ever be forgotten, and could you find real love if they become known? As a warning, this book is continued but the ending is not a cliffhanger. I can't wait to read more by Julie Bale!

We all want what we can’t have. Intriguing and with a cast of unforgettable characters “The Stillness of You” was a fun and drama filled tale of love and the hurdles we must face to gain it. Much like the hockey game that made Ben so famous he will have to be quick and smart enough to evade all of the road blocks Georgia is throwing his way all while skillfully wooing her. Georgia is a tough challenge, but Ben was never one to back down from any challenge, especially when the rewards are so sweet. Georgia is intelligent, capable, and way more than most men can handle. Not to mention she is hiding a secret that could destroy everything Ben and she have together. I really enjoyed getting to know more about Georgia and seeing her and Ben battle it out. They had some great banter together and I could really feel the chemistry between them. The romance was not rushed which is what I loved most about it. There was plenty of time for them to get to know one another and made their relationship that much more special. They are both a bit stubborn when it comes to some things, but it is plain to see they really belong together. Ben is a fun and all around alpha male who was a treat to get to know. I liked seeing how he changed throughout the book and that he brought out the best in Georgia while she in turn brought out the best in him. He was an interesting character that knew how to liven things up no matter the situation. This is a hot romance that you will not want to miss!

This review was first posted at Reading Between the Wines! This book should come with a warning label. Something that says, "Beware to reader: Consumption of this book may cause your heart to skip a beat, before it subsequently stops in your chest anyways, then promptly shatters into a million pieces, for which you will need industrial strength duct tape to try and put it back together. Use of an emotional defibrillator may be needed". The use of the word "consumption" in the warning listed above is very deliberate, I assure you. I chose that word because once you start this book you will be sucked into Georgia's state of mind, and therefore, the story. Georgia King is struggling after a recent release from a mental hospital. She was there for six months for on-going treatment of her Bipolar Disorder. Upon leaving the facility, she moved in with her older brother, who worries about her. In some ways, Georgia is much better than when she went into the hospital. In other ways, Georgia still struggles with her diagnosis, the medicine she has to take to keep her balanced, and the way all of it makes her feel like she's less than whole. In her mind, she's very much damaged goods. Enter the swoon worthy Ben Lancaster, who is the new addition to the Philadelphia Flyers hockey team. He was born to slap a puck around the ice. He's practically God's gift to hockey. He's also drop dead gorgeous and immediately intrigued by Georgia. He knows instantly that she's different than the other girls he's dealt with, or the puck bunnies he's bedded. Why does he know she's different? Because the first time he sees her is in the apartment of one of his new team's coaches, where she is standing in her undies and a tank top contemplating the canvas before her. She's not just artistically talented, but she's also beautiful, and there's something about her that makes him want to get to know her a whole lot more. The problem with trying to get to know her? She's the little sister of that coach I just mentioned, and big brother has told Georgia, not Ben, hands off. The chemistry between these two characters is so hot it'll scorch your retinas. The story line is beyond engaging, so much so that it feels almost soul sucking at times. You will read this book and root for Georgia in a way that you've never rooted for another character. It will also make you love Ben, not just because he's a hot, dreamy guy that is into Georgia in a way most girls only dream of, but because he's a fighter. He'll fight anyone and everyone to have this relationship with her. Even if it means fighting Georgia herself. So, I think that's enough said. Go buy this book right now, because it's more than worth it! 5 Wines Glasses and a HUGE kudos to Julie Bale's debut book!
