The Summer Train: A Woman's Journey from Desperation to Celebration by Susan Rabin

Sandra Cleyton travels from a psychiatric hospital in New York City to life in a privileged Hamptons community. Why did Sandra voluntarily check herself into a psychiatric hospital? What was her life like before and after that experience?

The novel explores Sandra's pain and David's struggle. In a materialistic, selfish, self-centered world, Sandra finally garners the courage to face the challenges of mental illness, emotional abuse, and marital infidelity.

This book is rich with passion and dialogue that has depth and speaks the truth.

Ms. Rabin’s account of Sandra’s falling down the rabbit hole and being successful in digging her way out hits home.   While I have not experienced the depths of depression of which she writes, I have friends who have.  The bottom line to this book is that there is hope for us all.   Great reading and more than just a book to take to the beach for a quick and easy read.
