I have to wonder if sharpgirl11 and I read the same book! I thought the story was well plotted. And I was impressed that the heroine actually seemed to behave like a real person, not some kind of ideal-type. A werewolf with an actual (albeit apparently dysfunctional) family and family life. Haven't run into that before. And the author's take on a crippled demon was nice, too.

This is a first book in a series. The protagonist is Amber, a woman who transitions into a wolf at will. Within the first few pages, Amber has saved the life, and become the owner, of a demon. But that's only the set-up - the real problem is the World Snake about to devour the greater Los Angeles Basin. The author clearly knows the neighborhoods of LA, and how long it really takes to get from one place to another - lending a reality to the narrative that is rarely seen in urban fantasy. And Amber, while acting as a "lone wolf", is not alone in the search for a way out - there are other magic users who are also working the problem, each group in their own way.The plot winds tighter and tighter, leading to a satisfying conclusion. Even better, the tag end was not what I expected!

Great main character, fast-moving plot, unexpected turns, and a demon lover. Great fun!

I love this book. The author grabbed me on page one and held me captive until the very end. I can't wait or the next in the series to be available.

An awesome urban fantasy! Definitely not one of the flood of cookie-cutter books out there. A strong main character and a wonderful supporting cast make this a really fun read. I can't wait for the next book in the series!

Someone gave me this book, and I am finding it difficult to forgive her. What a pretentious, derivative piece of crap. A tree should never die for such a wasted cause. Save your money.
