Overview

At the age of fourteen Faelin is forced to flee the only home he's ever known as his father, the king of Malsait is brutally killed and his throne usurped by the evil warlord Othar. Accompanied by his fencing instructor and mentor Felsik and his loyal servant Melsner they stay one step ahead of Othar's assassins. The men have only one mission, to find and kill the young prince and legitimate heir to the throne. Their pursuit is delayed for a while by the magic of the wizard Ghespi, who shelters and hides the prince and his companions. Four years pass and Faelin grows from a boy into a man. Day by day he studies and practices swordsmanship under the tutelage of both Felsik and Ghespi until he is ready to take his revenge and take back the throne from Othar.

About the Author

Even though he was born in California, Randy grew up in Colorado in a mountain community 12 miles west of Castle Rock. His first exposure to the fantasy genre was "The Hobbit". So thoroughly did he enjoy it that he dove right into "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy and vowed that he would one day write his own fantasy novel.

Randy began reading novels at a very young age. Devouring them, all kinds of books about adventures and sports heroes, classics from Dickens to scifi novels by Asimov and Bradbury. Then The Hobbit came into his possession and he wanted more. He read the Fellowship of the Ring, the Silmarillion some novels by Terry Brooks and others in the fantasy genre.

After high school he traveled the country knowing that one day he would become an author writing adventure stories. He loved movies about pirates and science fiction. Working at various jobs to round out his knowledge and to gain experience he grew to love the sea, the mountains and nature.
