Annabelle Smith has never had it easy, but she's a survivor. So when her brother cleans out her bank account, she reluctantly turns to the one man she'd vowed to stay away from. Ethan Gelderman is a hot, sexy Texan, who has more numbers in his black book than most men have socks, and placing her trust in him is one of the hardest things she's ever had to do.
Lake Howling is home to Ethan's closest friends, and it's also where Annabelle "firebrand" Smith lives. Sassy, beautiful and pricklier than a cactus, she's never made it a secret that she wants nothing to do with him, but he sure as hell wants something to do with her. Lord knows, it's going to be hard to earn her trust, but Ethan's never backed down from a challenge yet, and he soon realizes trust is just the beginning of what he wants from Annabelle.

About the Author
Wendy Vella is a lover of all things romantic, and with a voracious appetite for reading across all romance genre's, she eventually settled on the Regency era to begin her writing career. She penned her first novel at eighteen though she says it will never make an appearance further than the closet in which it currently resides.
After having her two children, she then joined Romance Writers of New Zealand and started honing her chosen craft by entering competitions with some success and attending conferences, until eventually, she was ready to publish her first novel.
With several of her Regency historical novels reaching bestseller status on Amazon, she has recently moved into contemporary romance. Her first series is set in Oregon in the fictional town of Lake Howling, and she has enjoyed the change of genre immensely, though is quick to add that she will still be writing historical, as the colorful and sometimes turbulent waters of Regency London are still her first love.
Wendy is a sucker for a happy ending, having secured her own. She has been married to her own dark, brooding hero for 30 years and shares her home with two wonderful children, two dogs and anyone else who happens to be visiting at the time. Born and raised in a rural area in the North Island of New Zealand, Wendy loves the beaches and lush green rolling hills of her homeland and is proud to call herself a very patriotic Kiwi!

Thought the first book in the series was a little better. This is a very real problem (drug addiction ). Saying that I am enjoying the author and their little town in Oregon . Looking forward to reading more from the series

Ethan pays off one of his gambling debts but leave still oweing another bigger one. Can Belle help Cooper and repay Ethan? Will Ethan get Bellevto realize they belong together? Well written story with strong and believable characters. This is the second book in this series and can't wait to read the next one.
Recently found this series and I am enjoying the stories immensely... Each of the books revolves around the members of a small mountain town in Oregon where everybody knows everybody and everybody knows everybody's business. Well thought out story lines, well developed characters and quick reads that have enough content to keep you turning pages... While the stories revolve around the small town people the characters take you to New York City, Texas, Denver and other locales so that things keep moving in interesting ways... Some funny, some dangerous and some sad... Think I am currently on Book 6 and will continue till the series ends.. Reads of about 200 Nook pages each and worth the time...
