Keep current with the truth: we’re only as weak as our secrets—especially the ones we keep from ourselves. That’s the Third Rule of Ten.As the go-to private detective for a bevy of high-profile clients, our beloved ex-Buddhist monk, ex-LAPD officer, Tenzing "Ten" Norbu, has finally found his stride. With his beautiful pathologist girlfriend, a healthy bank account, and a steady stream of clients, courtesy of middle-aged movie star Mac Gannon and rising political star Bets McMurtry, Ten’s life is bursting with activity. But it’s not all joy and happiness. The death of his father and a growing abundance of secrets—both personal and professional—leave Ten feeling an unexpected depth of sorrow and confusion.Even with the emotional turmoil, nothing can stop Ten from taking the case when McMurtry’s housekeeper goes missing. The investigation leads him down a dangerous path littered with bodies, untraceable prescription drugs, and human organ trafficking. But nothing is as shocking as the realization that the mastermind behind it all is none other than—Chaco Morales, a criminal that slipped through Ten’s hands once already. The Third Rule of Ten will have readers on the edges of their seats, as they learn, along with Ten, that there is a fine line between healthy privacy and unhealthy secrecy. Knowing the difference may just determine whether Ten will stop Chaco or lose himself

This is the third book in the series about Tenzing “Ten” Norbu an ex-Buddhist monk, ex-LAPD and presently a private detective for high-profile clients. After reading this book, I wish I had read the first two. Not because the books need to be read in order but because when I find a great series, I like to read them in order. And that is exactly what this is – a great series. Ten has clients, thanks to a middle-aged movie star Mac Gannon. Mac asks Ten to help Betts McMurtry find her housekeeper who is missing. Once he starts the investigation, he finds all sorts of odd connections. Then Ten has his own private life to deal with because of an abundance of secrets—both personal and professional, This creates feelings of sorrow and confusion for Ten.. He and his present girlfriend who is a pathologist are growing apart but he just can’t tell her it’s over. He has just returned from his father’s funeral and is dealing with that loss. He still has connections with monks from his time when he was one and he Skype’s with them to help clear his mind. The book deals with politics, black market organ sales, untraceable prescription drugs, and an abundance of lies. The really shocking fact comes when Ten discovers the ring leader is a criminal who Ten has gone up against before. The phrase “on the edge of your seat” definitely describes this book and I found myself reading when I should have long been asleep. I will have to go and get the first two books just to satisfy my “in order” need!

This book is another home run for me! Fast-paced and, smart, I am really in to Detective Norbu. As he struggles  with himself over his relationship and overall well-being, he never forgets his true inner self and even contacts his "monk brothers" for guidance and advice. I want to thank the authors Gay Hendricks and Tinker Grant for creating such a fascinating character. And also a big Thanks to Hay House for publishing these books. If Ten has 1,000 Rules to live by, I'll read all those books if you continue to write them.
