About the Author

Abby Williams is the pseudonym for Fiona Ford, writer of romantic up-lit and historical fiction. Fiona started out as a freelance journalist for titles such as Grazia, Sunday Mirror and Stylist before realising her passion lay in novels. Now she spends her days immersed in made-up worlds and reckons she has the very best job in the world. When she's not writing, Fiona is a gym nut, but only so it means she can eat lots of cake and drink lots of wine - not necessarily in that order. She lives in Berkshire with her husband and two cats who she sometimes thinks she might love just a little bit more than all the humans she knows. The Time of Our Lives is her first romantic novel and she is now busy scribbling away her second.

What a delightful novel! A rich, thoughtful read from an obviously talented author - and one which, I think, will appeal to all ages. Erin is a young woman whose life has come together beautifully; with a great job and a handsome fiance, what could possible go wrong? Without warning, she finds herself without either a home or a job. At the other end of the scale is Lydia who has lost her husband of many years after a wonderful lifetime together and is shocked to discover that, far from leaving her in a comfortable financial position, she is facing a future with crashing debt looming over her. So, with Lydia needing a lodger, Erin needing somewhere to stay - and a mutual friend to bring them together - so begins a tentative relationship. This is a perfect scenario for lots to happen with both of these wonderful characters, together and separately - and it does. Beautifully written in a smooth, flowing style I found myself immersed in the world of Erin and Lydia very quickly and this novel resonated with my soul. I loved everything about it, and will definitely be looking out for more from this author. Warm and full of empathy, it's both heartwarming and entertaining and I absolutely recommend it to all lovers of women's fiction with a touch of romance. It left me with a feeling of total satisfaction at a book well read, and I'm delighted to give it a full five stars.

A heartwarming and entertaining story that made me smile and root for the characters. It's well written, the characters are fleshed out and the plot is engrossing. Recommended! Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine.

There may be a 50 year age difference between Lydia and Erin but they become fast friends in this heartfelt novel. Both are at loose and scary ends- Lydia's just found out that her dead husband left her with huge debt and zip resources and Erin's fiance cheated on her with her BFF. Erin rents a room from Lydia, an arrangement neither of them could have envisioned but it turns out to be for the best. Both have something to teach the other, whether it's how to use a smartphone or about life in general. Thanks to net galley for the ARC. This is a tad slow in spots but it's a pleasant read.
