From the beginning of the book you get really hooked to the characters. You get to know about the main character in another perspective. Through out the book you find out many things about the character's past that is very important later on in the story. The colorful and so realistic description of the characters itself and the surroundings are so well described you just can't stop reading it. The story takes you to the imaginative place all of us actually wish for - to stop the time around us and be able to influence it. Reading the mind of other people is something I always wanted to experience. The story is complete in every aspect that it describes. Written in between real world and the world we wish to have control of, makes this a great start to the other books in the series. Going so deep into the character's mind, creating the twists and turns of situations is the most important thing that made me love the book. There is no pause, you just keep reading on and on. Seeing life through Mira's eyes, going into her mind, seeing her evolve from page to page, makes you a part of her life. And that is something that no other books have.

Mira is a young, beautiful woman, who watched her parents die by a bomb planted on their car. Now she is angry. Very angry. And she has a secret that will help her have her revenge. ------ This novella is a prequel to a publicly acclaimed Mind Dimensions series. As I haven't read any of the previous novels I was a bit afraid that I won't be able to understand what this series is all about. I didn't need to worry, though - this novella can be read on its own, explaining basic concepts of a mind dimension, and giving us an insight into the life of the characters that will show up later in the series. What intrigued me most was the decision not to have numerous battles with many splits to a mind dimension. On the contrary, instead of an action-packed, fast-paced thriller, this was more like a drama - drama that happens in the head of a young girl after watching her parents die. How she copes with it, how she uses her unique ability to delay that final moment as long as she can, how she deals with the fact that she will have to kill someone to have her revenge. Do not think there won't be some action though. We will see how the main protagonist uses her ability to fight Russian mobsters. We will also feel the frustration she has about the limits of her ability - she can stop the time, she can read someone's thoughts for a couple of minutes, but she cannot change anything in the real world. I would recommend this book to any young reader who is interested in the concept of mind-reading, coupled with some action. Although I think it was primarily targeted at female readers, male readers will equally enjoy reading it. And if you are an adult - give it a shot. You might be surprised with what you will find.

Good story & character development

After a girl sees her parents murdered, she begins to investigate the Russian mob.  She is aided by her special power, the ability to enter the mind dimension where she can both stop time and read the minds of the people around her. While the premise fairly predictable, the main character is none the less compelling.  She is driven to find her parents killer but she also desires a normal life.  Her motive is revenge but she also shows compassion.  This is not just another two dimensional action heroine. This short story gives a taste of this world and these characters and I'd like to learn more about them.

When I got this book at first I didn’t really know what to expect. But as I started reading I got more and more pinned to the pages, anticipating what will happen next. Story follows Mira, a young woman, who had witnessed the murder of her parents and has been trying to revenge their death ever since. On her path she uses her unique ability to stop time and get into other people minds. Novella is very well written, plots are well composed and constant swapping between realities leaves reader unable to predict what will happen next. Definitely a good read worth of everyone’s attention.

Engaging book, very detailed, allows you to build in mind all the scenarios and characters.  A little erotic and dramatic . The protagonist searches for a killer, a mysterious man that murdered her parents.  She is a strong young woman, with some impulsive actions.  Using her skills for reading minds and stopping the time in danger, this character hypnotizes you. In a world full of cliches, Dima Zales creates an original story that surprises the reader.  I loved this book and I am anxious to know what happens next, after this part ends. I highly recommend this book for all sci-fi and fantasy lovers.

An excellent prequel, told from the point of view we all want to hear. Good for those who have already read part of the series.

The Time Stopper was a thrilling listen. I got the audio book version, and the narration by Laura Jennings was wonderful. The main character Mira was very mature for her age, and considering her circumstances, it makes sense for her character. The story is fast-paced, and there is plenty of action in this story. The only problem with this book is that it was too short, luckily there are more books in this series. Even if you prefer to read books yourself, this is a great book to get.

This story made me want to read the next books in the series. The author has a way of getting and keeping your interest  Mira the lead character was exciting and very street smart. I found the mind dimensions very new, I had not heard of this in a story before. Also I wanted to find out what really happened to her parents. At first the narrator sounded a little robotic but as the story went on she seemed to get into it more and by the end I liked the way she was telling the story. It didn't bother me, but for people that are just reading the reviews before they listen there is some adult content. I would definitely recommended this book and this author

I find this Short Story "series starter" to be a very good introduction to the Mind Dimensions books. It's a bit short for my taste 1 hour 24minutes, but it's fast paced and lets you understand where the main character Mira is coming from, and the reason for her determination becomes very apparent. The narrator (Laura Jennings) do a very good job of depicting an atmosphere of Russian speaking underground and nightlife. Mira's vendetta is easy to get into thanks to the "first person perspective". I would have wanted more right away!

The story is very intense and a great prelude to the event in the next two book, seeing life through Mira’s eyes makes you want to keep listening for hours. Mira’s is more intense than I previously thought, everything from the witnessing and feeling her parent’s thoughts as they died is more excruciating as she recalls it. The chapter with her father was a very touching moment until you realize what’s about to happen next. It’s sad how Mira’s parent’s death and the experience warped her mind at such a young age. I loved the parts in the club with her splitting out of her body to keep herself from getting killed by the serial rapist, hearing his thoughts was enough to give anyone nightmare. Mira with her feisty attitude knows how to handle herself in any situation; whacking the rapist with the ceramic toilet lid was a classic. Similar to Darren in the main series, she knows how to use her reading abilities to keep her 6ft above ground, but when faced with killing someone she’s not all stone. Listening to Mira’s back-story, you really get to understand why Mira is the way she is and how it comes into play in “The Thought Readers & the Thought Pushers”.

Since I have the first two books of The Mind Dimension series already in my library (awesome reads!), I just had to add The Time Stopper. I really liked the character of Mira in the series but wanted to know more about her background, which is exactly what you get in The Time Stopper. As I expected, the book is fast paced and full of twists and turns. Mira is young and reckless, frustrated and conflicted at times, and very determined. I loved being able to see her story through her own eyes. With the story being written in first person, it draws you right into Mira’s world and you get to experience all her emotions right along with her. The writing is excellent, exactly what I expected from author Dima Zales, and the characters are very clearly brought to life via the great narration by Laura Jennings whose voice and inflections are pretty close to perfection (I have the audiobook edition). This is a wonderful prequel to the Mind Dimensions series. I highly recommend it to every fan of the Mind Dimension series and those who want to be introduced into the creative and intriguing world Dima Zales created with these books.

In this short prequel to Time Readers, we get to learn more about Mira's place in the Mind Dimensions series. Similar to Thought Readers and Thought Pushers, we get a quick paced, witty and satisfying story. Biggest feature for me was finding information through Mira's perspective. She is completely different than Darren, more so than she portrays in the other two books. She provides more depth as a character in this book. Strong willed, sure of herself, yet frustrated with her limitations. Specifically, the frustrations of her abilities (being able to stop time but not being able to do anything *with* the time). Hoping for another Mira based book in this series. Highly recommended.

Cold, sexy, strong, unemotional Mira is just so cool! Know a lot more about her and why she is like that. it's just sad that she had to see the tragic incident, can stop time but can't change anything.  At least she was able to say goodbye to her dad. It is an interesting story and I'm loving her more! well-written and I'm so excited for the next edition!

I love all of the books in the Mind Dimensions Series by Dima Zales. This book, The Time Stopper is a great prequel to the series and you get an intimate look at Mira. Mira is a Russian girl who moved to New York City with her brother Eugene after a Russian mobster killed her parents in a car bomb. Mira has a special gift. She can stop time and move throughout while others are frozen. While she can't change anything, she is able to see into the mind of other's and experience their thoughts and feelings. While this is a short read, it is very entertaining. I highly recommend this book to all book reader's of all ages.

This story is told through Mira’s perspective, so we not only learn of her situation firsthand, but we are able to feel her anger and thirst to exact vengeance for her parents' death. Emotions were believable and intense and I truly felt for Mira and everything that happened to her throughout. The author did a phenomenal job bringing the scenes to life—so entirely that I caught myself cringing at times while shaking off an intense visual, or wholeheartedly delighting in one. Overall, I enjoyed the story. It's a solid prequel to the Mind Dimensions series, The Thought Readers, which will leave you craving for more.

This novella encompasses a span of 24 hours centered around Mira’s 18th birthday. Her brother, Eugene, tries his best to make her breakfast and celebrate. Their typical awkwardness results in Mira packing a bag and taking off to blow off steam. Eventually she decides on going to a club where everything comes to a head. She is a thought reader. She can see into people’s minds and experience their thoughts and feelings. In the mind dimension she can undress people, look in their wallets, and learn more about them. This gift has shown to be both beneficial and detrimental. Just ask her about her last few minutes with her father. Mira finds herself in a sticky situation with the club owner, named Victor, and an acquaintance of his, Shkillet, whom she had met at a card game the previous night. A night that hadn’t gone as he’d planned…

Darren is a guy who can read minds but not in the way you are thinking. He is able to freeze time and, while everybody else is still as a rock, he can move freely and read people’s thoughts, not only from the present but also from the past. He believes he is the only one who can do this trick but, when he finds out that he is not alone, he decides to learn more about his abilities. He discovers that that these people are divided in two groups, the Readers and the Pushers, and they don’t like each other. Which groups does Darren belongs? Why Readers and Pushers keep fighting? This is just some of the questions that you will get the answer after listening to this amazing book.
