Overview

The Tooth That's on the Loose! by Chris Robertson

He's wiggly...He's wobbly...He's..."The Tooth that's on the Loose!" Set in the Old West, "The Tooth that's on the Loose!" tells the story of the character T.B.Wiggly, who is a slippery, shifty little varmint. The legend is told in narrative fashion by an old coot named Sheriff Tex. It is a tall tale...just tall in a small way! So pull up your bootstraps, saddle up, and mosey on over partner and enjoy! The book is narrated by the author Chris Robertson, who is a writer, illustrator and animation storyboard artist. The "voice" brings about a western feel, introducing many cowboy-like sayings, popular in Texas.

This book is excellent and a lot of fun. Excited to read it to my children when their teeth start coming in and falling out.

Chris Robertson takes the ordinary activity of losing a tooth and turns it into a Wild West event. Sheriff Tex, a local sheriff of a small western town, needs to round up T. B. Wiggly. There are wanted posters scattered around town and he explains to the children why he is wanted and where he can be found. What fun to see everyone chasing T.B. Wiggly around and find out about the reward at the end. The illustrations are cute and are sure to make children smile and laugh as this book is read. The sentences are short and match the illustrations with cowboy sayings and actions. This would be a wonderful book to have in an early elementary school classroom, school library as well as family libraries. Kids will love this book and the reader will too, especially if they get into the fun and try to read it as an old western sheriff. The publisher generously provided me with a copy of this book via Netgalley.

This fun book will delight kids on the verge of that big milestone in their life... loosing a tooth. This is the perfect book to cuddle-up and read to them to take the scariness out of the whole experience. Chris Robertson takes the occasion and wraps it in a western spin making it an exciting and yes even an enjoyable event. A local sheriff of a small western town rounds up T. B. Wiggly, whose face hangs on wanted posters scattered everywhere, and turns him over to the proper authorities to rid the pest from his jurisdiction permanently. The illustrations are truly hilarious and are sure to generate smiles and giggles as the text is shared together. The sentences are short and peppered with cowboy quips that make the book such a delight to read. This would be a wonderful book to have in an early elementary school classroom or library too. Kids will love the whole vibe of the book... 'sure as shooting'! I highly, highly recommend it.

Chris Robertson is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors/illustrators. His books are funny, quirky, and pretty darn entertaining. I read this to my daughter who just got her first loose tooth and she loved it! She thought it was hilarious that an outlaw tooth could be captured and taken into custody by the Tooth Fairy. The thing I like about this book is that it is so different from other picture books on the same topic. Robertson took an unconventional and rather humorous approach to a life event that every child will have to deal with. I almost couldn't believe that a wiggly tooth being a wanted outlaw worked as well as it did. Well done, Chris Robertson. Well done. :)

I have tried to get this book for a while now, but it is not in book form, and the e-book is not compatible with my reader nor NOOK for PC. I'd love to have it in a standard e-book format so that I could read it to my child who currently has a tooth loose. I'd rate it higher if I could read it.
