Looking back, I should have seen it coming.

Paige didn’t like that I went so far away to university. But it was going to only be for two years. She'd join me after she did her two years at community college. I thought we could swing that no problem. We were solid.

But she hated the distance. She hated not seeing me every day. She complained that I didn’t come home enough. She hated that for months on end, texting and phone calls were our only form of communication. It wasn’t enough.

She'd ask about the girls on campus. She’d gotten it into her head that girls were always making a play for me. I laughed and told her, even if that were true, I’d never cheat on her. She didn't seem completely reassured by that.

The bottom line is, Paige thought she was losing me. She wanted me home with her. But I could never imagine the level she'd sink to—the trap she’d set to make that happen.

And like an idiot I walked right into it.

And it’s a mistake I'm going to have to pay for the rest of my life.

Meet the Author

I have always loved books, romance and wished that everyone (most especially me) would find their happily ever after. Add in my love of London, England set in a period when ladies strived to be genteel and dresses could barely fit through doors, and it was obvious I could write nothing but historical romances. As the mother of one too bright and mischievous young boy, I pull full-time duty on all fronts. When I'm not working at my techy-type job, mothering, writing or reading, I'm probably sleeping and dreaming of a time when I'll have time for my favorite hobbies: knitting, crocheting and sewing. I'm currently being represented by the wonderful Kevan Lyon at Marsal & Lyon Literary Agency.

Beverley kendal delivers yet again!! This is a short and sweet prequel to what will be an amazing book Trapped. This book will have you falling in love with the characters and might have you cry just a bit. Paige and mitch aren't your average love story and thats what makes this superb. This is a must read.

Given To Me For An Honest Review OMG!!! This book was so beyond good.  Once I began reading this book I could not stop until I finished.  It was so good and it reminded  me of so many kids that I worked with when I taught high school.  Although Paige and Mitch are college aged.  While reading this I relived so many students stories I taught it was so amazing.  Now I am so anxious to read Trapped ... I can't wait for it to come out ......  I highly, highly recommend this book for everyone especially YA.  If I could give this book 10+ stars I would.  Excellent read.  You will not  go wrong buying and reading it.

How do you tell your boyfriend you are pregnant? Can you really count of the love you have shared at age 19 and hope you both are mature enough to support each other? This is a very sensitive and incisive novella looking at the reactions and choices our young characters must go through. It sets up the story in a heart wrenching way as Paige and Mitch deal with this problem in their own ways. Beverly Kendall has done a marvelous job dealing with the problem of teen pregnancy. Although our teen characters are on the verge of young adulthood, they are totally unprepared to deal with the facts and emotions of having a baby. I am really looking forward to the next installment of this story Trapped.

Ohmigosh, I couldn't even take a break to go to the bathroom until I finished this novella! Beverley nailed it spot on with how a guy thinks and sometimes reacts to an unexpected pregnancy (or heck - even a pregnancy scare, SHEESH)! Most of the time they can't even hear what a woman is saying or trying to express emotionally because they are looking for the closest escape route because they just can't handle the overwhelming amount of information / emotions / and instant fear when they get the news. Beverley takes us into Mitch's head and lets us hear what he's thinking and feeling, as well as poor Paige's complete and utter loss of her wonderful, amazing boyfriend, who she could always count on. All of a sudden she is alone, pregnant, unsupported by the one person she loved most in this world, as well as being financially challenged, very little family and people to give her emotional support. But she does what most strong women do, and charges forward without looking for sympathy. That encourages me so much! I can't wait to read Trapped! I'm grabbing it tomorrow when I get my paycheck!! I love Beverley's books - I can always count on her to keep me engrossed and entertained! I will be recommending this series to everyone I know!

I loved this story but what I felt was genius is that the author gives you just enough to know what's going on but leaving you longing tvto know how their story ends

Another great novella from Beverley Kendall. The Trap was an exciting prequel. I cannot wait to see how Paige and Mitch's story progresses. Currently, Mitch is an idiot. I hope that his character will see the light in Trapped and that the little family will have their happily ever after. But if he doesn't attain some sense of responsibility, both Paige, Mitch and their little bundle are going to be miserable.

The Trap by Beverley Kendall 4 of 5 stars  18 year old college student Paige is pregnant.  Her boyfriend Mitch, also a college student, is less than thrilled when he finds out but agrees they will face it together.  As the two starts to make plans and prepare to tell their families, Mitch finds out Paige had quit taking birth control and not told him.  Mitch's discovery results in him questioning the paternity of the unborn child; completely removing himself from Paige's life.  Paige continues with her pregnancy, supported by her friends and both her and Mitch's families.  Mitch is nowhere to be found as Paige gives birth to their daughter.  I liked this novella, but did not care for all the characters.  I really did not like Mitch or Josh but I am hoping Mitch redeems himself in the next book.   This was a novella, short and to the point.  It catches your interest and makes you want more.  The next book is on my to read list.  *A complimentary copy was given in exchange for an honest review* Susan, My Secret Book Spot

Paige and Mitch, young and in love. A together forver kind of love. But then one morning, everything changes. I wanted to say this Novella started with a bang, but the whole book was an Oh-My-God-What-The-Hell kind of book. Sheesh! And I mean that in the best way possible! This was a quick couldn't-put-it-down read. I couldn't get on Paige's side in the beginning because, I gotta admit, I didn't know what to believe. I wasn't too sure I liked her. But by the end of the book I was more Team Paige then I was Team Mitch. He was miserable but he did it to himself. I wish I would've waited to read this prequel, because I can't wait another month to find out what happens in Trapped. Especially since the first chapter of Trapped was at the end. Another start with a bang! Can't wait! ***I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review***

This is a necessary intro to Trapped (which I am now 3/4 of the way through).. Well written story of a young couple trying to figure out their love life, their college educations, their future and their daughter... Lots of heart ache, growing up and family dynamics here but very necessary to an exceptionally well done TRAPPED.... As a grandmother I would like to kick some butts but remember the need for all of us to grow up in our own time... Initially thought this was for young readers but it is not... Recommend this and "The Book"...
