Xuemei Zhong, Ph.D. marks her debut in the publishing world with the release of “The Traveler” (initially published by Balboa Press). This new book is a modern-day parable that encourages readers to seek the essential truths in the midst of the vicissitudes of life.
“The Traveler” follows the title character, a traveler, in the desert who meets an old wise man who offers him a drink of clear water. Through the simple gesture and the story that unfolds, Zhong illustrates the importance of letting go and embracing change. The book may offer multiple interpretations but at its core, it is a universal story filled with humane truths.

About the Author
Even though Dr. Zhong has been teaching, lecturing, mentoring many students and home-schooling her children with Tao De Ching, she never thought of publishing until she coached her 10-year old daughter Danielle Gao publishing her first book Krystal Clear.
The first story of "The Traveler" just appeared in her mind upon waking up one morning and she had to write it down first thing first while still in her pajamas. Many thoughts and clarities come to her in this way. She had to quickly jot them down. If not, once she dives into her busy life, those thoughts will disappear.
When she is not doing research, teaching, and coaching, Dr. Zhong likes reading, gardening, cooking, and archery. Her favorite day, even though she rarely had those days, would be waking up in the morning to write down those wonderful thoughts and stories, then picking fresh vegetables from her backyard garden to cook her delicious and nutritious vegetarian meals, sitting down in her porch reading her favorite books while her lovebirds chatting with the wild birds in the forest behind her backyard, then going to practice archery with her son.
Her mission and calling are to help people to live a healthy, happy and fulfilling life.
