Overview

The Travelers by Keith Wayne McCoy

In 1947, the Queen Mary transmits a message which is intercepted by extraterrestrial intelligence. This errant radio signal serves as a beacon for a North Atlantic encounter between James and Jess Bennett, a GI and his war bride, and an otherworldly, desperate mother and her two small children.

In the present day, Guy Turner, a melancholy, black filmmaker, finds himself at the center of a supernatural mystery after a haunting prelude with the now elderly mother in a corridor aboard the retired liner in Long Beach, California. Standing at the edge of eternity, the old woman and the Bennetts have the complex task of setting certain aspects of the past in order as the doors to their lives are closing.

Guy is thrust into an unexpected and unwanted voyage of self-discovery as he is solely enjoined to bring the three together one last time.

“The Travelers,” by Keith Wayne McCoy is a shear classic in the making: Nail biting suspense, intregue and mystery form the backbone of this impressive chilling tale that has captivated my imagination for 3 nights on end. Author Keith Wayne McCoy is truly a master storyteller whose writing style is descriptive and original. Main characters James, Jess, and Guy are all developed to perfection with a deep POV that provides them with vivid personalities. It amazes me how haunting the past can be sometimes. The certain nostalgic chill of a daunting past can sometime stay with you on your journey through life. Thus is the case with the Bennett’s who try to fit the pieces of the puzzle. The unity of these characters is what I liked most, and its what showed me that together, anything is possible. The haunting aspect of this tale opens up the doors for the Bennett’s to go after answers. To find those answers, I cant through out a spoiler so unfortunately you will have to read the book to get them. All I will say is that the ending took my breath away and left me wanting more. In closing this is a book that I thoroughly enjoyed and is one that I highly recommend to everyone. 5 Stars!!!

Very well written book. I thought this was going to be a paranormal story but what we get is more of a life story on Jess & Jim and how they wound up where they are now. Gus who is a bit messed up in his relationship, learns some life lessons on his journey with Jim & Jess, after meeting them while interviewing them for a show he was producing. Though not getting to know them truly till months later when he experiences a paranormal event that leads him searching for none other then the couple he had interviewed months ago. Jess became a lonely bitter alcoholic after a great loss, causing Jim to leave her. Jim couldn't get through to her and though she was the love of his life had to move on. All 3 travel together for an awakening of minds, hearts & souls for one more encounter with the anomaly that ended up bringing them all together.
