The book is part fiction, part autobiography and deal with Benge’s recurring themes of loss, and, as his self portraits attest, impermanence. His democratic view is an acerbic, wry response to the world in free-fall where nothing is certain. Yet there is humor, affection, hope and unexpected beauty.
