Laurie Harman Wilson understands that children who have been abused, neglected or abandoned often come to believe there is something inherently unlovable about them. Though these children may learn to act and talk tough, many believe they will never be valuable to anyone. In her book The Treasures of Destiny, Laurie tells children a different story: An abused child or orphan is just as deserving of attention and affection as the golden child with two supportive parents. He or she can also have a future every bit as valuable—if not more so. After all, it often takes a sad child to discern the vanities of life that envelope and distract most of us. We don't always notice the signs and markers that will lead us to our individual destinies, but this book may help remind young people to keep their eyes open for little jewels of possibility. Thank you for your book, Lauri. The illustrations are well done, and the individual destinies are quite inventive. My only complaint was that it wasn't long enough. But then, it is a children's book and not intended to be an adult novel. Oh well.

I enjoyed reading The Treasures of Destiny by Laurie Harman Wilson¿. It's a charming story I'm sure children will enjoy. The characters come from less than ideal homes. With Ms. Julia's help each discovers the physical jewel which manifests his/her abstract destiny. It is so refreshing to read a book without violence and destructive language. Of course, I recognize the children experienced negativity prior to arriving at Jewel House. The important message is how they overcame neglect, abandonment, and abuse. This jewel of a book will help to illuminate the children in our world to the positive potentials and give the reader hope.

I really enjoyed reading this special book. As a public school teacher of 30 years, I worked with children who had been abused. This book shares the beautiful stories of how one home helped them overcome their tragic circumstances and follow their dreams to an incredible future. My favorite was Dax and his relationship with a lion named Loxley. A very poignant book with characters you will fall in love with.

5 Stars- Charming and Inspiring! Ms. Julia Love is a kind, loving nurse that works to take care of sick and abused children at the children’s hospital. After helping to heal these abused and neglected children, she dreamed to open a place of her own to take in these beautiful children who needed so badly to be loved. The Jewelia House was finally built and named after a brave, wonderful little girl she cared for at the hospital. While the house was being built, she discovered something truly special. The Jewelia House was filled with very special children. This tale is the magical experience that the children had once they were old enough to understand. Juni, Monty, Jach and Dax are taken on an adventure to discover what they were fully capable of. Encouraging each child to find their way and follow their dreams. The Treasures of Destiny is an exceptional book! It calls to the hearts of anyone who ever picks it up. Laurie really writes from the heart and captures your imagination. This book is beyond inspiring and I am honored to have been able to review it! Complete with love and inspiration, every young child will learn that if they believe in themselves they can do anything they set their mind too. The Treasures of Destiny has inspired me to launch my own version of a charity for children. It will be unlike many others, but for the sole purpose of collecting donations of precious books, starting with this one, from readers everywhere to take to the children in my area. Laurie, thank you for being an inspiration, to me and all who encounter your work! You are amazing!
