Logan Seagate hadn’t bargained on making friends with a secretive, rich and mysterious family - or being caught up in a pirates shipwreck mystery and trapped in a burning building with no way out - when he’d trespassed onto the private beach by abseiling down a cliff that first morning of school half-term break. But his "be alone" plans are interrupted when he meets Meeka, an adventurous eleven year old girl, and her secretive, mysterious parents.

After spending a thrilling day full of adventure and Ferraris, he finally realizes the identity of his mysterious new friends—but what’s better, with the help of their friendship, it looks like that elusive sense of belonging is finally within his grasp.

Until his older foster brother shatters his hopes for his new friendship.

But it’s not just his happiness that is at stake as a mystery unfolds around them. His suspicions of a shipwreck pirates’ smuggling ring turn into reality, putting Meeka and his life plus the lives of his foster family at risk. Caught by the ruthless pirates they are all tied up and held captive.

A bigger shock is still to come, one that will hit Logan the hardest. But there is no time to deal with it because before he knows it he and Meeka are trapped in a burning building. With the flames getting higher, how can they possibly escape, rescue the people that matter the most to him and capture the crooks?

The Trespasser's Unexpected Adventure is a heart-warming suspense and mystery book for middle school children and early teens.

Logan, Meeka and the other children in his foster family start a friendship that will carry them through their exciting adventures in this, the first mystery book of the Crime Stopper Kids Mystery Series. See the children learn to trust their instincts and each other as they gate-crash the shipwreck pirates’ smuggling mystery and figure out who the criminals really are. A school holiday they will always remember as the beginning of their friendship and their adventures.

A fun read, full of twists, adventure, surprises and laugh-out-loud moments.

What a feel good, great read! It has a bit of everything; family, friendship, action, suspense, laugh-out-loud wit, fight scenes, racing cars and more. The story is believable and heart-warming. The relationships are set up well, which helps to support the plausibility of the characters' actions during the crime part of the story. There was enough action and suspense to keep it really interesting for boys, but I loved reading about the interaction between the young people and them and their parents. It's a great example of what family should be like and it highlights that sometimes family has little to do with blood, but everything to do with commitment, acceptance, and love. The 'significant others' in this book are excellent role models. It should be a funny and exciting read for 9-13 year olds. ~Mike, Amazon Reader

About the Author

Karen grew up in New Zealand on a farm-there was plenty of time for roaming and room for imagination. Later she worked with exporting businesses where she met a lot of really interesting people (from someone who kept tanks full of eels, to another whose business made huge machines for chopping down trees). She learned that everyone has a story to tell.

When her two children were young she home-schooled them for five years-there was lots of reading books on couches and figuring maths out in the sunshine! Her homeschooling highlight was spending almost a year travelling around Europe with her family. They loved seeing so many places and meeting so many different people (and eating so many different foods!).

Karen has always written stories, mostly for her writers group. She loves to put something of her joy of living and love of family into her writing. She still lives in beautiful New Zealand, near to the beach, along with her two teenage kids, two cats and a goat called Milly.
