Overview

Angela Anaconda has found herself in trouble again, this time at school with her teachers. And guess who always makes sure that Angela Anaconda and her friends Gina Lash and Johnny Abatti are properly punished? That's right: Nanette Manoir! From clapping erasers to making paper airplanes out of her homework, see how Angela Anaconda gets herself into and out of trouble at school, no thanks to Ninnie Poo (who is not French, by the way).

Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
Third grader Angela Anaconda takes name-calling to new heights in this chapter book. Her nemesis, Nanette Manoir, is called Ninnie Poo, Ninnie Wart, Miss Nanny goat, Nanumbskull, Dim Nin and so on ad infinitum. Angela does not miss opportunities to put down her "dimwit" brothers and her teacher, Mrs. Brinks, as well. Sadly, these names are supposed to be funny. The name-calling establishes a mean tone that runs throughout the two stories in this book. It is a poor substitute for interesting plots, convincing dialogue and multi-dimensional characters. Angela has her own Fox TV show. This book is one in the publisher's "Angela Anaconda" series. 2001, Simon Spotlight/Simon & Schuster, $3.99. Ages 7 to 10. Reviewer: Jeanne K. Pettenati

THIS BOOK IS NOT A BOOK OR SERIES OF BOOKS THAT I WANT MY CHILD TO READ. WHEN YOUR CHILD ASKS YOU IF THEY CAN READ YOU A SECTION OF THE BOOK AND NOT GET IN TROUBLE AT THE SAME TIME.(THAT IS JUST WRONG) THE WORD BUTTKISSER AND OTHER NAMES THAT ARE USED TO TALK ABOUT PEOPLE IN THIS BOOK ARE TEACHING CHILDREN THAT IT IS OKAY TO CALL OTHER CHILDREN NAMES.
