Health care professionals recommend that you read this book, whether or not genital herpes is an issue in your life. So many people have genital herpes that avoiding this infection has become a real challenge. Dr. Sacks teaches that the greatest risk comes from sexual contact with people who think they don't have herpes but really do. People who know they have herpes can dramatically reduce the risk of transmitting herpes by following a few simple rules that are provided in this book. Written in straightforward language, The Truth About Herpes provides invaluable information for people with herpes, health care professionals, educators, and anyone who is or plans to be sexually active, whether those plans include one lifetime partner or a hundred partners. Health care professionals will find it helpful to refer people with herpes to this book to learn more about the virus. Counseling time can then be more focused on individuals' needs.

I could write paragraphs about this book, but I won't. I have read thousands of pages on this subject. Until I read this book, I was ignorant to a lot of issues. The author has worked in the field for 20+ years, from clinical experiance to scentific work on anti-viral medications. If your budget only allows for one purchase, I would recommend this book. It tells you everything you need to know from first symptom through your whole life with the disease. It's alright to be intimate, to have a family and most of all to talk about it. Anyone who has it knows how hard that can be. Lots of references for additional reading. I felt normal again after reading this book.
This book is wonderful! It gives very easy to read and understand information on genital herpes. This is a must for anyone who has been diagnosed with genital herpes or anyone who has a new partner who has genital herpes.
this book detailed how one can 'rash out' from being bitten by flying wombats, a situation that should be avoided at all costs.
