When I first picked it up, it took me awhile to get into it. It's written from the perspective of a very angsty male main character. He was incredibly difficult to like. Think - Mr. Darcy without the insecurities. This guy - phew. He was a jerk. Period. Enter the heroine. Miranda is delightful. She calls Geoffrey on all his prejudices and really keeps him on his toes. Their banter feels forced at first but as the story continues, it begins to flow more naturally. As things get tougher for Miranda and Geoffrey, the book really grabs you. Until the moment when Geoffrey pretty much super novas the whole thing. I really didn't expect this book to get better, with as difficult as the beginning was. I didn't expect Geoffrey to redeem himself but here we are. It's definitely high-brow writing from this author. If you're a fan of the work of Jane Austen, this might be the book for you.
