Overview

The Unbelievable True Tales of a Tall Texan by Stapleton Grey

"The Unbelievable True Tales of a Tall Texan" takes you year by year from 1968-1992 following the exploits of a young, East Texas, farm boy while being shadowed by the FBI, mafia and mercenaries.

Born the son of a mafia hit man and a suped-up, Bible-thumping, scripture-quoting, Southern Baptist for a mother, Stapleton stays true to form from youth to adult hood, getting in trouble at the drop of a hat while trying to do good.

From dinner with Mickey Mantle, being run over by a driver less go-cart, getting bitten by a rabid dog to drinking beer with Jerry Jones and James Michener in Austin, Texas, Stapleton endures many misadventures.

"The Unbelievable True Tales of a Tall Texan" is an action packed, funny, sad story with lost love.

The Unbelievable True Tales of a Tall Texan is nothing like I've read before. The stories are funny- being run over by a driverless go-cart, they're sad- learning about life and being bitten by a rabid dog, and some can be quite graphic at times but never dull. I really like the way Stapleton Grey begins each chapter with the news headlines for that year. Each chapter is a year in the life of Stapleton from 1968-1992. This book is definitely a page turner. I read it in one sitting. The stories flow smoothly and the transitions leave you in anticipation. To say the least, The Unbelievable True Tales of a Tall Texan by Stapleton Grey is a fantastic book! Stapleton is a "Class A" story teller. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK TO EVERYONE. FYI- There is an eBook available at The Unbelievable True Tales of a Tall Texan on-line book store. EKendrick

Stapleton Grey has a knack for involving you. You feel like you are right there watching what he is telling. The Unbelievable True Tales of a Tall Texan is a page turner. You catch yourself not wanting to turn out the light and go to sleep. Stapleton seems to have a flare for telling tales not unlike Mark Twain with a little bit of Larry McMurtry thrown in for good measure. One thing is for sure, Stapleton Grey doesn't pull any punches. This is a great book and when you are finished reading it you will probably read it again.
