A New Englander at heart, she now lives in Sarasota, Florida, with her husband and their two dogs. When she's not nose deep in her laptop, working on her next novel, she's scouring for chocolate, sipping wine, traveling, or devouring fabulous books. ?Want to get in touch? Visit Marni at ...

The Derek we meet at the beginning of the Unblocked episodes is not the same Derek we see at the end. I knew Ms. Mann wouldn't disappoint with the character development of her characters. I may have teared up in some places, both from sadness and happiness. It was a rocky road and I didn't care for Derek at all in the beginning, but throughout the book he evolves and reveals the person he really is beyond the anger and revenge. Derek and Frankie both handle their relationship with respect, being each other’s strength when they need it. There is enough drama to deal with from all of the crazies in their life to keep things interesting. The conclusion to Derek and Frankie's story is pretty much perfect.

I haven't read anything by Marnie Mann so far so when I got the opportunity, I jumped on it. And I am definitely happy I did that :) The plot was definitely interesting. With twists and turns that I was definitely not expecting and an erotic flavor that definitely increased my temperature. The characters were quite interesting and well developed with a lot of depth. They were definitely easy to connect to and made it easy experience their feelings and thoughts. Even though the basics of the story are not unique, the combination of the catchy plot and realistic characters, made it quite interesting and also different from all the romantic books with an erotic flavor out there. Derek is definitely a mouthwatering hottie. With his milk chocolate curls and intense electric blue eyes, he is definitely pantie melting. I am usually not too much into the whole beard thing but he did make it sound hot ;) He is also smart and dominant and apart from all the dirty talk that will leave you breathless, the smart banter between him and Frankie is definitely quite fun and stimulating. But Derek also has a painful past that still haunts him and the ghosts from it can destroy everything he has build professionally and the budding relationship between him and Frankie. Frankie is also quite an interesting character. With her dark hair, gunmetal eyes and charming personality, she is definitely a stunner :) On the surface she is strong, independent and ready to fight for everything she values in her life. And a big part of that is her carrier and her father's trust and respect. On the inside, her heart has bee shattered and she is still trying to collect the pieces after the betrayal and pain she had to live through. Even though she wants to leave the past where it is, it simply doesn't want to stay there. That only leaves her doubting everything in her life and the things she craves in her heart. When she meets Derek, he sees behind her walls to the magnificent woman inside. And he is definitely ready to chase her. If he is the hunter, Frankie is his prey. And let me tell you, that makes for some quite explosive encounters :) In the end, I have to say that I was definitely happy they both found their perfect other half. Something neither of them was looking for or even wanted at that moment. In a few words, this series was definitely quite a good read. And considering it is separated in five somewhat short episodes, you can easily read as little or as much as you want. Just be ready for some cliffhangers on the way if you decide to read an episode at a time :) As a whole, I am quite happy that I encountered Marni Mann as an author and I would be definitely checking her other work. Andif you haven't read anything by her yet, then I think that the Timber Towers Series is the perfect place to start :) This review was originally posted at Living In Our Own Story Book Blog. I received an ARC of the book in exchange of an honest review.

Let me just start by saying if I had dreams like Frankie, I'd never wake up! Derek is super sexy in an unpolished manor. His hair is messy and curly and he dresses business casual in a suit and tie world and makes no apologies to anyone for it. He is a master at the art of talking dirty. He makes it clear he wants her and knows she wants him too BUT, he just signed a contract with her. She'll be working for him. Mixing business with pleasure isn't a good idea...is it? My favorite paragraph is where he references a flannel shirt or a $10,000 suit. And YES, I believe him! His dedication to Hayden and their plan is admirable, only I'm not quite sure how that's going to play out. And Hayden and Reed? We learn what happened to Frankie after that scene. TRAGIC! We finally meet Taylor and I can honestly say I DON'T LIKE HER! I just wish Derek had been honest with Frankie from the beginning. Why is a man so oblivious to things he should know will hurt the woman he claims to love? In the last part of this book, the tears just wouldn't stop. Randy is a terrible person! I now fully understand Derek's need for revenge. Frankie also has her share tragic events. The beautiful way he helps her deal with her loss was perfect. Throughout it all, the spice between them never diminished and was enviable. With Derek and Frankie life goes on and any questions you may have had are answered at the end. This is the end of our time with this gorgeous, gruff, flannel wearing, totally devoted man and the beautiful woman he loves. I will miss them but hopefully we will see a little of them in future stories. Thank you Marni Mann for such a fantastic adventure! Received a copy in exchange for an honest review.
