This book is #3 in a series and you CAN read it as a stand-alone book as well :) I have not read the other 2 novels and although it did take me a little while to get oriented as to the backstory, when I did it was superb! I love stories about zombies but this was a take on them that I have never seen! The "Corpses" can take human bodies and continue to be a part of society even though some people know what they are is the basis for the series. The Undertakers are what I considered to be a "rogue" crew of fighters. They are brave and do everything they can to keep the rest of the world safe from the Corpses - even if they aren't appreciated by the government. I loved that this book was set mostly in Washington DC and the Capitol buildings. And of course how the Corpses have infiltrated the government. It's quite a mind-bender and edge of your seat book :) I enjoyed reading it and now I want to go back and read the other books in the series :) I would highly recommend this series to anyone who enjoys reading "exotic" zombie stories! I won't give away any spoilers but the characters are very well-written and although the reader doesn't know exactly what the "Corpse-Eater" is until about halfway through the book, it is well worth reading to find out! :D ***I received a complimentary copy of this ebook in exchange for an honest review***
