I spend a lot of time looking for well-written and entertaining haunted house stories and this story was the best! I am a harsh critic of ghost stories, but this was a great read. Fantastic! Worth the money.

Another case of unbelievers moving into a house thats haunted but refusing to believe until it's undeniable. Then not being able to find anyone to help. I recommend this book to anyone interested in the paranormal or someone having things happening in their house or workplace that they don't understand.

This book was an awesome read, I finished it within two days of receiving it in the mail. Well written, and the information found inside is pretty amazing. If you are scared easy, don't read at night and don't read it alone, but it is still a great book and I found it enlightening and entertaining. From a paranormal standpoint (I am an aspiring paranormal investigator) this book is a must read. Highly recommended.

I read this book in a matter of hours. I couldn't put it down and was very pleased that I didn't have to chew through it like I have books in the past (even some of Stephen King books which I am a huge fan of). He lets us into his personal life and tells a story so few have the chance of experiencing for themselves. This book is great for skeptics and non-skeptics alike and I highly recommend reading it. You will NOT be disappointed.

I had the chance to read The Uninvited by Steven LaChance, my first reaction while reading this book was WOW! Steven paints an image in your mind through his words, living the experience that he and his family had to endure over again, so that he might share his nightmare with the world. The Uninvited was the tale of a demonic haunting that was fed by the person who owns the home and rents it out to unsuspecting families. Though each family has their own tales to tell of The Union Screaming house, Steven enlightens us all of his families struggles and the struggles of another family who unknowingly moved into the Union House. What you saw in The Discovery Channels episode of A Haunting, was no comparison for the horror that the LaChance family actually experienced while living in this home! This book is a must read for any paranormal enthusiast or anyone living with an extreme haunting! Many will be able to relate to the Steven¿s pain and suffering at the hands of inexperienced Paranormal Investigators who come to help and never call back. This book has everything in it from an insane clown to a demonic possession. This book will be on the best sellers list in no time!

I give it 5 stars. Very unnerving. I don't get scared that easily and find it easy to separate truth from fiction. This was in the top 2 scariest books I have read. I live in a couple of towns away and heard about this home. I asked a good friend who grew up in Union about it. She said that she was not allowed to ride her bike along that road while growing up. Her parents never told her why, but said there was something bad on that road. She hadn't heard of the house until I showed her the book. She also had family who lived along the haunted country road mentioned in the book. Very interesting read.

First off, I have to thank Steven LaChance for writing a story compelling enough to allow others the luxury of thinking themselves to be "not so crazy"! These things happen in the unusual and unexpected world in which we all live! This story was interesting enough, that, not only could I not put it down from beginning to end, but it made the hairs on my head stand straight up! As more of these stories come to light, it allows those persons who'eve seen such things (or were unfortunate enough to have lived through similar events) the ability to come forward without fear of ridicule! I have a special place in my heart for all persons like Mr. LaChance who break the ground for the rest of us to follow, and having lived through their own experiences, are strong enough to help others! Most people would've given up several times along the way, but Mr. LaChance is able to keep his family together through thick and thin. Showing everyone that as long as we love one another through the hard time's, we can all prevail. Therefore, I think this story, although a story based on true life horror, is about the everyday hero's that sit right by our side everyday..., our family members. For those of you like myself (with no family to speak of), this story is still about a hero, a man who has shown me that, every one of us can prevail over the evil things at work in our lives..., all that we have to do is believe in the fact that good WILL prevail over Evil. Always! Thank you Mr. LaChance, for sharing your incredible story with us. For having the courage not only to battle evil at every turn, but to share your experiences with the public!

Imagine yourself a single parent, with three children, you find an add in the paper describing a perfect place to rent, for the right price, you see it in person, and its everything you have been dreaming of, lots of room, a big yard for the kids, perfect.....or so you think. Steven takes you on that journey, which ends up at that house in Union, Mo. What he describes is every persons worst fear, and every parents nightmare. He starts to realize that the children are not the only ones seeing things in the home, he starts seeing and experiencing things too, and finally, when the thing locks his children in a room so he cant get to them, that attack was the last for him, he and his children flee the house. Just when you think its over, another unsuspecting family moves in, and once again, Steven is in the home, this time helping the tennent and her family fight this thing, and this time it almost takes the tennants life. This is a perfect example of a demonic haunting, and I am not only saying this as a reader, but I know first hand what evil lies in that house, I was in it. Although I had my share of experiences with the evil in that house, nothing could compare to Steven and the new tennent actually living in the home. This is an excellent book, and you need to get it and judge for yourself, you wont be disappointed.

Steven LaChance takes you into a violent haunting and a spiritual awakening as he and his family endure the trauma facing them when they move into a new home. Set in the quiet community of Union, Missouri this book will leave you questioning the existence of demons and those things that go bump in the night. Mr. LaChance draws you immediately into his nightmare in the first few paragraphs of The Univited by asking you to question your existence and those around you both in life and in spirit. 'Are you alone? Are you sure? What if I told you that there is a good possibility that you are never alone? Did you ever have that feeling when you are taking a shower that there is someone hiding, waiting, breathing just on the other side of the shower curtain? You see the curtain begin to move slowly in and out. Were you alone then? Or was that just a little lie that you told yourself to make yourself feel better. To make it easier to cope with whatever was lurking on the other side of that curtain. I was once like you. Lying to myself. Fooling myself. Convincing myself that I could be truly alone whenever I wanted to be. Now I know the truth... This book will bring you full circle with emotions. You will experience, as he did the gut wrenching fear and the deep spiritual awakening in his life. You will share with him the dark secrets of the Union screaming house. Are you prepared to live the nightmare? After reading this true story you will ask yourself if this happened to Mr. LaChance can it happen to you?

Scary in both presentations! I stayed up late reading this book, actually slept with the light on on one night! Wow, that this family will ever be "right" again after all they went through and then turn around and help another family... courageous!

I am not one to get creeped out by things. However, this book did it for me. I had been sleeping with the television on three nights! I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Why is it that all the negative reviewers are also anonymous? I was recommended this book from Goodreads and the cover art is enough to traumatize a small child for life. I've always been interested in this genre of horror involving either demons or haunted houses. A horror book can get into your head if you read at night, or you're alone, and if the subject is one of your fears. This didn't fail to deliver, even if you have a mild imagination...Just check it out.

This was a very interesting ghost story book. I started off being creeped out right at the beginning with the guy who was trying to rent the house, and stayed that way until the end of the book. I cannot imagine going through what these people went through... it had to be hell on earth. The one thing I kept questioning was answered at the very end of the book. If you love ghost stories, get this book! You will love it.

If you like true to life scary, The Uninvited is definite for you. This book will make you feel scared you out of your mind, sad, feelings of hope for the families, and than when you thought it's safe POW! Wow. This book is one you'll will not be able to put down. The story is about two families going through hell in a house and how one man is helping one family while he is trying to stay sane in all this. This book has definitely open my eyes and mind - when something sounds too good to be true - hm mm, watch out!!

I really enjoyed this book. It had me feeling nervous when I'd read it, which is what I was looking for. I recommend this book to those interested in this subject matter. The book reads like a novel.

I just finished this book and thought it was pretty good. I would not recommend reading it at night before you head to bed. I finished it very quickly wanting to know what would happen on the next page. It is a very easy read for people whowant a good story without having to take weeks to finish.

From the moment I opened this book , I could not put it down. I felt - through Steven's descriptions- that I was there, experiencing all that he had to endure. As I type this I have goosebumps! Steven gives an outstanding description of what it is like to suffer such horrible events and feel that there is no one to really turn to. Even to this day he's persecuted for his experiences by those unsympathetic beings 'I will save my editorial comments'. KUDOS to Steven for sticking up and voicing his experiences. This could help those who are experiencing the same thing, know that they are NOT alone.

Any of us who have gone through a Haunting will totally understand this book. Steven takes us not only on the journey of the Haunting, but that of the turmoils within a family who goes through one. I defiantly would encourage you to read this book. The family interactions will pull you in. Anger, love and the strength to overcome what life throws at us.

I found the story ok but many dull points.

To be honest the writing was substandard at best, it was quite obvious the author of this dull story was buying time on the page. It was not scary or chilling. I would not recommend this book.
