It was 50 years ago today that four young lad from Liverpool, England first single "I Want to Hold Your Hand" made their first American single on the airwaves. Paul McCartney once said that we are not going to America till we had a number one hit. He was right. It went straight to number one on the Billboard top chart. Then on February 7, 1964, the Beatles arrived at the John F. Kennedy Airport. On February 9, 1964, more than 70 million viewers tuned into watch the Beatles make their American debut on the Ed Sullivan Show. This marked the beginning of Beatlemania. Fifty years later, Capitol/Apple/Universal has released the Beatles U.S. Albums and sounded much bigger, better, louder, and clearer. Some Beatles fans may be a bit disappointed because the entire 13 U.S. albums do not have the American sound version, but instead it has the 2009 remasters. Beatles fans who bought the Beatles Capitol Album Volume 1 & 2 may want to keep or trade it in. Back then, the American sound version was a lot different than the U.K. version both in stereo and mono. Despite of that, the U.K. version sound is much better, bigger, louder, and clearer than the American sound version. Here's to another 50 years of Beatlemania. We love the Beatles, oh yes we do. YEAH, YEAH, YEAH!
