It wasn't that bad. It was a good book if you are a fan of damon and elena getting together, but a bad one if you want bonnie and damon together because they way it was written it looks like that is done and over. All damon cares anout now is keeping elena safe which I think is totally sweet. If you are fan of sefen and elena you guys are gonna be suprised by stefens behavior I know I was. It was an okay book but not one I really liked the ghost writer did an "okay job" I guess but it lacked the real depth and feeling that you usually get from this series. I am personally gonna finish the series but not really because I want to.

This book was not as exciting as the first series, which when I started reading I could not put down. This one had some low points that just dragged on and seemed like they didn't need to be even in the story. Hoping that the next book will be a lot more exciting like the first book series and the television show. If you stay true to the main plot of the story, the books shouldn't be boring.

this is a sick excuse for a vampire diaries novel! how DARE they go and have sonme sorry excuse for a writer make this and then HAVE THE NERVE to put ljs name on it!!! it is HER story so she can do whatever the hell she wants and write whichever way she would like to end it!!!! you know why she can do that! because it is hers! i thought we lived in america where you have rights to your own book at the least!!!! i say NOONE SHOULD READ THIS BOOK, that way the company will lose money and be forced to give her the rights to her own story and let her end it the way she freaking pleases! i hope none of you smart people that read this once fantastic series go and waste your money on this piece if trash!! so you know what F U Harper collins because you can go to freaking hell! going and taking someone elses story, your writers and workers are a sick excuse for human beings, only being greedy and thinking of money, not caring that you are taking awayb someones precious lifeswork, and losing millions of fans because of it, and THEN HAVING THE NERVE to use her name on something l.j DIDNT WRITE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I pre-ordered this book and still havent managed to work up the desire to finish reading it. It has been horribly hard to get into and seems to be the worst of the few most recent books that have been writen by the "ghost writer" who has done a poor job of replacing rightful author L. J. Smith. The writing and dialogue sounds all wrong with characters saying things and behaving in ways Smith would never have written, and themes and characters are being recycled as if the new writer has run out of new ideas and has resorted to bringing back the successful ones from earlier installments. I have loved the series for years and love the show (despite the fact that it has nothing to do with the books) but it has become painful trying to read the ones that have been written since Smith was replaced. I have tried to stick with it, but at this point I think this series has lost me one its last chance to keep me reading. I believe the publishers made a horrible mistake in removing L. J. Smith from writing these books, and I will forever wonder how the story could have gone.

Thre tv show is nothing close to the books at all.The tv show has its own plot than books do because Jeremy in the books was supost to be a 9year old named margett. In the book tyler's last name is smallwood when in the tv show it's tyler lockwood.I like the tv show better than the books but don't get me wrong i love the books so much.

A breath of fresh air Honesty I think this is kind of refreshing. I know a lot are annoyed the writer is different but to be truthful I like the approach so far of the new one. The attention was SOOOO focused on Elena in the last books they kept thrusting her in everyone's face. Look at her she is so pretty and smart and wonderful and brave and gets what she wants yada yada. Mean while all the other chars are there but on the sidelines. I love that this book is more involved with all of the other amazing characters in this series and for once not making it all about Elena. Loving the secret story with Matt and getting to see more of Meredith's training and the people she is involved with. Feels nice that it isn't all about Elena's cheating two timing romance.

As a big fan of the TV series, I am enjoying the novels as well in the VAMPIRE DIARIES. Elena, Damon, and Stefan play off one another well and keeps one turning the pages. Also recommend the compelling teen vampire novel, COUNT DRACULA'S TEENAGE DAUGHTER, first in a new series.
