The Vampire Encyclopedia is a must-have reference for anyone who writes in the horror genre or is interested in vampire fiction or folklore. Bunson does not bother to document his sources, but that shortcoming is not uncommon in encyclopedias. The other shortcoming of this extensive list is that Bunson lends equal weight to fictional, historic, and folkloric accounts.

I don't own the book and I have only read a bit of it, but it is clear that this book is a must read for any vampire fan.

To be truthfull, this book is very disappointing. I do know what this writer was thinking, or if he even knows much about the subject, but it seems like he was not ready to write this 'encyclopedia.' I, a college student, found many mistakes in this book, and it seems like such a book should be written by a historian, scholar, or something of the type. Whoever wrote good reviews in this book, seriously needs to go and research from more credible sources, and go through the encyclopedia again, you will find the same mistakes.

This was a very informative book. All the information was precise and helpful. Not many people actually read up on the paranormal. Therefore it is wonderful for there to be a book that stresses every detail of the vampyre. I would, of course, recommend this book to anyone.

I would reccomend this book to anyone who is even faintly interested in these mythical and strangely beautiful creatures. If you want to know something about vampires look it up in the Encyclopedia of Vampires! Matthew done a outstanding job on this book!

I recommend this book to all vampire fans. It tells you everything you want to know about them & everything vampire related. You'll learn about real vampires & about all types of vampires around the world that you never knew about.

A very good job. Deserves more enthusiasm because it is concise and accurate, however, the lack of references is its soft spot.
