Powerful story of teen finding family, gifts, and first love in a community dedicated to killing vampires. Great setting, characters to adore, and thrilling scenes to keep you turning the page. I recommend this book to those who enjoy a vampire infested read.

Chloe has just discovered that her mom was a vampire hunter after seeing her murdered right before her eyes. That night, she was rescued by her grandfather, another hunter and explains her bloodline. She learns that her mother conceived her with a vampire. Vampire and Vampire Hunter? Oh, this is too good! From that point forward, Chloe vows to get strong, learn her abilities, and avenge her mother’s death. Apparently, she had some big shoes to fill, because her mother was probably the best vampire slayer in a town full of hunters. The story begins with Chloe’s promise to kill the thing that claimed to be her father: a vampire. Throughout the series, Chloe struggles with her training and, eventually, discovers that she can start fires with a flick of her wrist, making her a powerful weapon against her enemies. The reader is guided through the history and legends of the slayers as Chloe becomes more attuned to her abilities. Series was enjoyable and addicting. It’s best to get the complete bundle rather than the individual parts, because each one ends in sort of a cliffhanger, which can be annoying. Even though the end battle with Trevor was probably the most climactic scene in the series, it felt sort downplayed to me. I wished Chloe would’ve been more of a fighter like Buffy. Then the whole thing just sort of tapered off in the end.

I think teens and young readers will enjoy, it had a few twists, only about 180ish pgs., as an adult I found it to be bit predictable, also I found it hard to like Chloe.

This story starts quick and just keeps going. Can't wait to read more about the people in the story.

Once I started the book, I was compelled to keep reading. I liked the varied personalities, the somewhat unique varients to the vampire genre. I became invested in the characters and their story. This was free at the time I downliaded it. I probably wouldn't have taken a chance on it because I didn't know about this author then. She is a great writer & I will look for more of her books. My concern in shopping for books now, is that so many are only a part of the story and do not stand on their own. How will I know? It would be helpful if the publisher would tell exactly what we are getting with the purchase. Is it a complete 250+ page novel, (on my nook - i have no idea how many words make a full novel), or is it a novella of less than 100 pages? Until then, I won't be buying books that come in parts, unless thet are VERY inexpensive. I'm even hesitant to buy any book with this new way of selling partial stories. I read so many that I could be a pauper before easter!
