The Vanishing (The Last Dogs Series #1) by Christopher Holt, Andrew Bates

When all the humans in his world disappear, Max, a yellow Labrador Retriever, begins the search for his family. He knows that if he can just find Madame Curie, a wise, old black Lab, she'll be able to help. Madame had a premonition of astonishing events to come -- she might know where Max's family is.

But Max can't make the journey alone. Joined by friends Rocky and Gizmo, Max sets off to find Madame. Along the way, the trio must face a pack of angry wolves, forage for food in a land where kibble is akin to gold, befriend a house full of cats, and outsmart a gang of subway rats. Ultimately, they'll have to escape from the biggest threat of all: the Corporation, a "perfect" society for dogs and by dogs, where nothing is quite as it seems.

The Last Dogs: The Vanishing is a thrilling adventure and a tale of three unlikely friends on an epic quest to find their people -- and bring them home.

My 9 year old daughter loved reading this book, because it is adventurous, mysterious, and kept her interested. She recommends this book to anyone who loves reading adventure and mystery books.

In the book “The Last Dogs: The Vanishing” Max and Rocky’s owners disappear and leave the dogs behind. Max is trapped in a kennel while visiting the vet after his owners dropped him off. Rocky is living the life with a bunch of kibble and all the water in the world. When Rocky runs by Max, Max asks Rocky to help him out. Then wolves attack them so they go to a house and end up catching it on fire. The dogs then run along the road back to Max’s house and end up leaving after staying there for a night. The two dogs then leave with Max in a harness carrying bags of kibble in a wagon he used to pull his owners Emma and Charlie in. AS they are running along the road to find their leaders they run into two other dogs guarding the road. After talking to the dogs for a little bit they end up finding a spot hidden in the woods with a lot of dogs. They help the dogs by getting them kibble and water. All of the dogs are then attacked by wolves. Read the rest to find out what happened next by reading The Last Dogs: The Vanishing. I would strongly recommend this book is you like adventure and action because in it the dogs travel all the time and are attacked by wolves. The dogs travel from a vet clinic all the way back to one of the dog’s house, then to an enclave, after that they run away from wolves and onto a dam made of trash. In the beginning the two dogs you meet first get attacked by wolves.

You know, this book came out way before Erin Hunter's Survivors series (I checked the publishing date) but that does not matter because although both books are similar, they're both very good! P.S. When I said that this book came out first, I didn't mean that Erin Hunter copied Christopher Holt. I'm just saying that possibly Erin had a similar idea. P.S.S. I kinda like Survivors better :)

It is a very amazing book! It is my favorite book so far. Everyone said it is copying survivors but it came out first. It is very interesting but sometimes a little confusing. My favorite book is the first one because they meet their enemies.
