Despite the ever-increasing popularity of Southeast Asian food, there have thus far been few cookbooks, other than Binh Duong and Marcia Kiesel's excellent Simple Art of Vietnamese Cooking (LJ 8/91. o.p.) devoted solely to Vietnam. Brown's large-format book provides 100 recipes, many of them illustrated with full-page color photographs. She includes a brief introduction and a glossary of ingredients, but it's too bad that there are few head notes for the recipes. Nevertheless and despite the book's being published in England and not really Americanized this is recommended for most collections. Copyright 2001 Cahners Business Information.
