The Virgin in the Garden: A Novelby A. S. Byatt
The Virgin in the Garden is a wonderfully erudite entertainment in which enlightenment and sexuality, Elizabethan drama and contemporary comedy, intersect richly and unpredictably.

This was the first book of Byatt's I read, I liked that it was the beginning of a series. The writing is very complex, the scenary, characters, plot, take a great deal of time to absorb. However, grasping the complexity allows a depth which is rewarding in the end.
