Hot on the heels of the blockbuster film comes a version of H.G. Wells’ chilling tale of alien invasion that every child can enjoy. It begins as the sky lights up with bright cylinders from Mars that look like falling stars—and continues as the Martians emerge from their vessels with machines of fire and deadly smoke. Wells’s depiction of a city in panic—written in 1898—still remains shockingly contemporary.

My 8 year old loved this book in particular, of the many Classic Starts titles I purchased for him. He was through it in two days! Perfect reading for a 7-10 year old!
War of the Worlds, by H.G. Wells, is a science fiction book is not like the other science fiction books I have read. The book is written in a way that makes it unique. It is a book filled with a suspenseful and unpredictable nature. War of the Worlds has a plot that is extremely well developed and written. It involves a war between humans and an alien species that ends in a way you would not expect it to end and is quite exceptional. The sequence of events that lead to the end of the war in the book is also exceptional. That is why I think that War of the Worlds by H.G. Wells is a good book.
My son, 9 years old, has started reading this series and cannot get enough. They are a fantastic way to introduce young readers to the classic in literature.
