The Way I See It

The Temptations, Sam Cooke, the Jackson 5, Gladys Knight & the Pips, and many more early R&B artists were the inspiration for the latest album from singer/songwriter/musician/producer Raphael Saadiq. Although his classic soul-leaning The Way I See It could have been recorded 30 years ago, Saadiq is no stranger to contemporary. From his work as a Grammy-winning producer for artists such as Joss Stone, John Legend, Macy Gray, and the Roots to his beginnings as a member of the groundbreaking, chart-topping group Tony! Toni! Tone!, he's been a force in the music industry for more than 20 years.

At first you are wondering what era you're listening to and then you are thrust into the present with past R&B and think you've died and gone to heaven. This is by far one of the best CDs I've listened to in a long time. If you are a true lover of R&B this should meet your listening criteria.

What every lover of Soul has been longing for - new material with the "heart of soul". Such a great tribute to the music of Motown and Philly. The sound and production is so authentic, you will think this is truly from the 60s and was just found lost in some archive somewhere. This CD has it all - great songs, performance, recording and production. You can listen to this CD all day long. Great job Raphael!

Raphael Saadiq is too cool for school! You can hear his love of soul music running through his tracks on "The Way I See It". Great grooves, fabulous harmonies, his rhythmic tempos, and great riffs get into your bones.. you can't stop moving while listening. I purchased 3 copies to give to my friends, share the joy I always say. He is keeping Motown, a true American art form, alive for the next generation. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for a night of sheer smiles!

I purchase all of my CD's from Barnes & Noble. Even with my membership, they cost a bit more than at another retailer, but I get what I want. (the "other" retailer is always out of popular CD's and never knows when or if they will get them in again; and you cannot order). If the CD is not in stock at B & N, they order it for me and it is received in a timely manner. For this reason I do not mind spending an extra buck for the CD. I luv Jazz and they have a really good selection. The quality of the CD's is always good. The service is greatly appreciated. Eppie
