I hardly even know him, but something in my gut, something deep down, tells me he’s worth the risk. And the butterflies in my stomach only fan the flames of that suspicion. *** I was not expecting this book and all that it held hidden. Like at all. Leighton did a fantastic job on a monsterous storyline. I cannot imagine what she went through writing something like this one. And, I seriously need to go back and reread it promptly so I can see all the hints I may have missed. This book had me reading until I couldn’t hold my eyes open any longer. Then when I woke up at 3 am and couldn’t sleep, I was back at it. (Insomnia is good for something!) Once I started it I didn’t want to put it down at all. I was at it any chance I had. To me, Noah was intriguing from the start. We were given this look-see at the start of the book of his life at his lowest. Then when we see him again, it is through the eyes of Poppy. She sees a broken man, but also a man that needs saving. And she believes they might possibly be able to save each other. I loved Poppy. I was totally invested in her. She was so sweet and I wanted her to be able to repair the shell of a man that Noah was. I knew they could be great together if they could work through his past. But what in fresh hell was that twist? I mean seriously. It unearthed a whole heck of a lot of skeletons and I was picking through the pieces of all that I read trying to put them all back together into one giant truth. I was absolutely shocked but in the best way possible. Well done, Leighton. You rocked this book and pulled one over on this reader. Amazing, twisted story...THE WAY WE BURN is a definite must read. 5 Incredible Stars!

WOW! This book will Burn you in a delicious way! This story grabbed me from the beginning. I'm speechless. In a good way. Gripping, sexy, taunting, a twisted mind blowing love story of two broken characters who will surprise you from the first till the last page. Loved that Author Michelle Leighton threw us for a spectacular loop of never seeing the outcome of Noah & Poppy's story. Go find out why you should always trust your instincts even when you know they will hurt the ones you love.

WOW! I was certainly not expecting that... The Way We Burn is SO AMAZING! SO UNEXPECTED! Such a page-turner that I couldn't put it down for one single second. Noah Williamson is haunted by his past... losing his child and his wife in the most tragic of ways... how does one ever overcome and survive such a loss. Noah finds some peace in Poppy, a waitress at a diner he goes to, and his life seems to be taking a turn to the light... to the less heavy... to maybe finding some sort of happy. But there are still so many unresolved things for this couple... so many questions... so many things happening that as the story started to unfold that I was left speechless. As you can see from my updates here... OMG left my mouth several times throughout my read. What an emotional, intense, all-consuming story! A love like this is what people dream about and wish for... a forever love that knows no bounds and wow... JUST WOW! I know I am not saying much and I'm sorry for that but with something like this, there can be no spoilers because watching this story unfold the way it did with all of its twists and turns was something to experience in itself. I love Michelle Leighton books... The Dandelion is a top fave this year and I have just added another Leighton book on my list... WOW! I can't say it enough!!!

What the hell just happened, and where do I begin? Wow…just wow. THE WAY WE BURN by M. Leighton is a contemporary, adult, stand alone, romantic suspense story line focusing on FBI agent Noah Williamson and thirty-three year old waitress Poppy Blackwell. Told from dual first person perspectives (Noah and Poppy) THE WAY WE BURN follows FBI agent Noah Williamson as he struggles to move on from a devastating past that has destroyed all semblance of normalcy in his life. Meeting thirty-three year old waitress Poppy Blackwell, finds our hero with a hope for a future, a hope that pulls at his tormented heart. THE WAY WE BURN is a story of romance; of broken souls, broken hearts, broken minds and broken lives. The undeniable truth is heart breaking; the fall-out emotional and intense; the resulting aftermath paralyzing and powerful. M. Leighton pulls the reader into a memorable and amazing story of a vengeance that transcends reality; a love that transcends the mind.

OMG OMG OMG what a story. This book is amazing, spectacular, fantastic. Michelle Leighton has outdone herself. Just when you think you know the story BAM another surprise. She is so talented and exceptional. This book will have you on the edge of your seats. A true work of art. You will be hooked from the first word untl the last. It is that good. There aren't enough words to describe what I was feeling reading this book. I usually love all of her books but this one certainly will forever be one of the best I have ever read. Her talent for writing comes off in waves with this book. The things you will read and the feelings you will feel are so spectacular. It is a story of true love. Never giving up and always remaining together with whatever life throws at you. No matter where you are your love will pull you through. Love like that is rare and should be treasured. Poppy and Noah have that type of love. Together they can get through anything.

There are books that you read that you know will stick with you long after you have finished them and for me Michelle Leighton has written the majority of those books. The Way We Burn is the newest book that I get to add to that list, this book was beyond AMAZING. Noah, dear God my heart absolutely broke for that man. The loss he suffered was heartbreaking, consider this your warning to keep tissues nearby because you will absolutely need them several times during this read. Poppy is a waitress at the local diner that Noah frequents, Poppy is drawn to Noah and is totally taken by surprise when Noah asks her out for dinner. I found Poppy to be sweet, shy, and a bit insecure, she's quite endearing. Michelle Leighton throws one curve ball after another in this fascinating romantic suspense that will keep you on the edge of your seat waiting to see what happens next. This was so brilliantly written you don't even suspect the first plot twist let alone the ones that follow!!!! **I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Readers Copy of this book**

M. Leighton just upped the bar for all authors. This book will make you rethink everything that you thought you had read, then she throws you a curve ball, and like a movie, all the parts will click into place. This is the reason I love reading; there is nothing, I love more than a book that makes me second guess everything I thought I knew. Then there is that “AHA” moment that makes your heart and mind race in the best way possible! M. Leighton is a brilliant, master storyteller. This book just claimed the #1 spot for my 2018 Booklist. Do not read reviews; go into this book knowing nothing – I PROMISE you it will be worth it.
