Overview

The Webs of Learning Program was a five-year program at Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwa Community College, funded by the National Science Foundation. The program implemented cultural curriculum changes inside and outside the classroom. As a result of this program, the college saw increases in enrollment, retention, and graduation in targeted areas, as well as found some new and interesting approaches to traditional academic subjects.

In The Webs of Learning: A Short Guide to Cultural Curriculum Revision, the director of this program explains what the Webs of Learning program did, and in what areas it worked or did not work. The purpose of the book is to provide a starting point for discussion and further development of the ideas underlying the Webs of Learning program, and how the implementation of those ideas fits into other tribal colleges, and to the broader concept of multicultural education.
