It is a story ripped from the headlines...then taped back on. Rather clumsily, I might add.

About the Author
No, wait, that's the Grateful Dead.
Also, Mike's life in a nutshell: Born in England, grew up in New Zealand, spent a couple of years in Italy as a Navy brat before joining the Navy himself and traveling some more, courtesy of his favorite uncle, Sam. Hopped a freighter when his enlistment was up, headed for the Mediterranean. Got off in Egypt so he could climb the pyramids, during which he discovered, to his surprise, that he is afraid of heights. Made his way back to England, never climbing anything very tall (the Eiffel Tower was right out) before returning to the U.S. to go to college on the G.I. Bill. Pretty much settled these days, in Colorado, seemingly an odd location for a guy with acrophobia to fetch up in, what with the mountains and all, but entirely in keeping with the "long, strange trip" motif.
Mike has lived a lot of places and done a lot of things. Which reminds him of another line from the Bard, "Life's been good to me so far."
"The White Out Sanction" is his first foray into fiction. He has written several plays and, while Broadway has not exactly beaten a path to his door, the plays have earned some beer money in contests and grants. Mike also has five-twelfths of a screenplay under his belt, where it chafes something fierce.
