So, I've been a followers of this series from the first book, The Madness of Lord Ian MacKenzie. Typically, series will fizzle out for me, but not this one. Still going strong, baby, still going strong. I've spent the entire series teetering between my two favorite MacKenzie brothers, Ian and Cameron, unable to decide which one I loved more. Then... then, along came Daniel MacKenzie, the reckless teenager we first met in book one of the Highland Pleasures series. The perceptive, intelligent younger MacKenzie who traipses all over Europe looking after his uncle and aunties, living up the wicked MacKenzie name. Daniel MacKenzie, my new fictional love. Since the reader is so well acquainted with Daniel throughout the whole series and watches him grow into manhood, I knew this author would have to make his story exceptional, with a rocking heroine and all that. I mean, she had to! This is Daniel we're talking about. Daniel, Danny boy, with a father who doesn't know how to take care of him, a mother that tried to murder him in the cradle, and member of a family that is full of tormented, troubled men. Of course, she had to give him a happily ever after with a heroine who deserved him. Task accomplished. I've officially dubbed this book my favorite in the series. Yes, I'm gushing about the book, but I can't help it. I absolutely loved Daniel. He is not unlike his uncles. When he sees something he wants, namely Violet, he goes after it. And he doesn't stop until she is absolutely and completely his. Our Danny boy is a fabulous hero who has no difficulty recognizing the woman he wants to spend his life with, and he doesn't mind facing her demons together with her, all in the name of love. Now, our heroine, Violet. I can honestly say this author doesn't tend to disappoint with her heroines either. These MacKenzie men need a strong, determined lady by their side. The conventional miss would not do for any of these men. Violet is a wonderful heroine for Daniel. Able to read anyone, it made sense she had no idea just what Daniel was thinking most of the time. And it was because he was actually being genuine with her. No artifice, no ulterior motives. He just honestly wanted to be with her, and she had no idea how to react to him. Overall, I'm one satisfied reader after reading The Wicked Deeds of Daniel MacKenzie. For ages, I waited for this book, and I was not disappointed in the slightest. This will be one I reread many, many times.

What a bang up job concluding this great series! I can not recommend as a stand alone read. You would be cheating yourself out of a great series. So many authors can't keep a series alive book after book but you did it Ms. Ashley and I thank you. I have been looking forward to Daniels story for months now and so appreciate how all the family members and other important secondary characters were included with Daniels. It made so much sense since every story had Daniel growing up more and more. In my opinion only Susan Johnson and Nicole Jordon have been able to write every book in a series as strong with a great conclusion. I will miss the McKenzies but will gave many enjoyable hours rereading! Thanks so much, Leigh Heller

~This UTC Team Review is also posted at Under the Covers Book Blog Describe The Wicked Deeds of Daniel Mackenzie in three words Annie: Charming, Adventurous, Sexy. (Or am I just describing Daniel here? ;P) Suz: Sexy Balloon Ride! After watching Daniel grow up, did he meet your expectations? Annie: Daniel actually turned out more cocky than I expected him to be. But I guess if you have the money and the Mackenizie name backing you up, why wouldn’t you be? I always knew he would be charming, but never to the extent that Daniel was in the book. I adored the balloon ride scene and thought that was the most unique adventure I’d seen in a historical romance for a long time. It also helped that Daniel was a charmer the whole way through too. Suz: For me, Daniel was both more and less than I expected. Annie is totally correct, Daniel was cocky and charming, but with a big ol’ heart infusing him with warmth as well. It was hard not to love him. But, maybe I have just gotten used to big, brooding Scotsman from this series as what he made up for in charisma he lacked in intensity. He just didn’t have that edge of darkness that the previous heroes had. Violet, was she a heroine you connected with? Annie: I enjoyed Violet’s character. Her secret definitely made me care about her more. When you have a heroine who has had to endure what she had to, you can’t help but sympathize with her character. But the fact that she was a spiritual medium made her all that more interesting! I don’t think anything is more entertaining than that! Suz: I did, I really liked Violet, she was clever and resourceful. She had suffered through a hard life of constant worry and responsibility and I loved watching her soften and trust Daniel. Overall how did you like this book? Will you read the next book in the series? Annie: Daniel’s book turned out to be different than I expected. With adorable dialogue and larger-than-life characters, Ashley has all the elements ready for a fun book. But she adds more when she infuses it with her humor and charm. And of course I’m excited to read Sinclair McBride’s story! Highland Pleasures is a must-read series for me! Suz: Overall I really enjoyed this book, Daniel and Violet were a great couple with fantastic chemistry and I loved seeing all the other Mackenzies. Sadly it wasn’t my favourite book in the series, I didn’t really connect to it like I have with the others, but it was still fun, unique and sexy. Roll on the next book, I can’t wait to read it! *ARC provided by publisher

I enjoyed this story.  Not quite as much as I enjoyed The Madness of Lord Ian MacKenzie.  I guess I expected more from Daniel’s story but what was presented was okay.

I love how Danny grew up to be a fine man. Someone who loves and embraces life. His upbringing contributed to what he became in this book. And thank God not a tormented one. When he was growing up, being close to his aunts and their struggles with his uncles and father, thats the reason why he understood and sees through Violet.

Thank you for not changing the characters. Some times you get to know a character in series and when you get to their story the character has changed so much that you get lost and confused over what happened to the character that I fell in love with? But Danny was the same sweet lovable character. The book is an amzing book and I have read the series several time and every time a new book comes out from this series I start reading the series from the first book. Tjanks for the great book L cant wait foe the next one

The heroine was supposed to be a strong character but I felt the hero took a lot of her agency from her by deciding it was his job to avenge all the wrongs done to her

This is about Daniel and his infatuation with Violet, a captivating and mysterious young woman. The story has many twists and turns and the couple have obstacles to overcome before they can admit to themselves and each that they are in love. It is easy to like these characters and is a lovely ending to the seris.

I loved Daniel and Violet's story. Of course I read and enjoyed all the Mackenzie's books. This was special because I watched Daniel grow up in each book that was written about his uncles and father.

Daniel's story was not my favorite...not because I didn't like Daniel...what's not to like w/ Daniel? But I did not like the female and wasn't sure why he fell for her. But all in all...the MacKenzie's make for great reads. I hope we get to read more about the family or that the author comes out w/ another series w/ more strong characters. I also agree w/ others, Ian is still my favorite macKenzie!
