A great read! Crispin has been deep in his cups for months losing his money. In a bet he doesn’t think he can lose he bets he will win versus someone’s hand in marriage. He loses and is immediately brought to meet his intended the Widow Gemma. She is appalled what her father has done but has not choice since he is threatening her younger sister. When Crispin wakes the next morning with a tremendous hangover he realizes he’s done something he can’t take back. This is a good read where two people have been hurting for awhile and it takes themselves to be able to heal and move on!

Loved the story.

I have enjoyed each installment of the Notorious Flynns. I was surprised at how much I came to care for Crispin - he seemed unlikeable in the first two books. If you like steamy romance novels then Ms. Michaels is the perfect author for you.

Jess Michaels wows us with another of her very sexy, very steamy offerings. I read Book 1 of this series and loved it. Somehow I missed Book 2 but as soon as I saw this one on NetGalley I requested it. I don't want to miss a single book in this series. I have already requested the 4th one. If you like your romance full of steam this one does not disappoint. It is sexy, funny and has wonderfully developed characters. Synopsis: Crispin Flynn has been on a downward spiral into perpetual drunkenness ever since he lost the woman he loved and watched his brother forced into a life he never would have chosen. His response has been drinking and gambling his way to utter ruin. One night, deep in his cups, he places a dangerous bet that results in him being forced to marry Gemma, the widow of the Earl of Laurelcross. Gemma once had a passionate side, but has been hiding it ever since her much older husband died during the act of making love. The gossip mill has her pegged as a murderess. Now she finds herself the much unwanted wife of one of the biggest libertines in London and the subject of even more gossip than ever. Once they determine they cannot escape the marriage, the two begin a slow circling of each other. Passion is easy, but can they overcome mistrust and secrets in order to make the worst night of their lives one of their best? Or are they bound to lose each other before their love can take root? This is a must read. All of the books in this series can stand alone, but if you read them in order I think you will enjoy them all the more. I received a free copy of this book from the Author and NetGalley so I could leave an honest review.

I'm shocked that I actually liked crispen in this story...in the last books I did not care for his character and I went into this book thinking this was going to be the worst in the series...but I was wrong..:( his story was really good...I didn't like him in the first two books., thinking he was cocky and selfish..but jess did a great job to redeem him..she showed us he was human and what we do when we hurt and feel betrayed. He ruined himself and gave up on life and love and his family..this is a must read.

STEAMY CAPTIVE REGENCY As I never had a doubt, Jess Michaels has done it again! I can always rely on this author whenever I need a book that captures my attention and doesn’t allow me to put it down until the last page. The Widow Wager is book 3 of the Notorious Flynns series, with The Other Duke and The Scoundrel’s Lover as book 1 and 1. The Widow Wager is Crispin Flynn’s story. Having lost the woman he loved and watching his brother being forced into a life he didn’t want, Crispin began gambling and drinking regularly. But what happens is exactly what he wanted to avoid. After winning a bet he placed with a widow’s father, he is now obligated to wed, that very night, the widow of the Earl of Laurelcross, Gemma. The thing is until the following morning he didn’t even remember what he was betting on and is totally surprised to find he now has a wife of who he has never, before the wedding, met. Gemma doesn’t want marriage either, as her first husband passed away during the act of having sex. Now she can’t escape having to marry one of the biggest rakes in London, after her father, she feels, just as well as sold her to a womanizing rake of which gossip never ceases. Gemma and Crispin must challenge everything they thought they wanted, based on the previous past hurts and disappointments. Their predicament brings them passion but neither knows if it will actually turn into love. One thing on the upside is that Gemma can’t compare Crispin to her father, and finds him very different, which is a good thing. But how can Crispin come to care for her when he doesn’t even like himself? And Gemma must find a way to stand up for herself and be part of someone, not simply someone to boss around. I honestly love this author and very highly recommend Jess Michaels to anyone who loves to read romance. Jess has a permanent home on my keeper read and reread shelf!

This is book 3 in the Notorious Flynns series. Crispin Flynn has sunk deeper and deeper into depravity since he watched his brother forced to live a life he wouldn't have chosen. He never imagined that his drinking and card playing would land him a wife.  Having been sold into one marriage, Gemma, shouldn't have been surprised to learn that her father had wagered her hand in marriage to a perfect stranger. Knowing that there would be even more gossip if they refuse to marry, Gemma and Crispin decide to make the most of it. While their passion for each other burns hot, can they get over learn to trust the other to find an everlasting love? After reading how out of control Crispin was in The Scoundrel's Lover, I wondered how Michaels would turn his life around. She did not disappoint with her newest addition to the Notorious Flynns series. The first time that Gemma meets Crispin, he is still drunk from the night before. She knows his reputation and thinks that saying no to her father might be the better deal. But Crispin shows little signs of the man that he could be, so Gemma tries her luck with him. I loved seeing the transformation of Crispin as he spends more and more time with Gemma. He didn't want to be married, but they have agreed to try and make the marriage work. He has seen that a forced marriage can work out for the better when his brother married Serafina. The biggest hurdle Crispin has to get over is his own self-loathing. Gemma learns why he feels this way and does everything in her power to help him get over this. After Crispin and Gemma have been through so much, they appreciate each other all the more. I've loved every one of Michael's books in the Notorious Flynn series and I can't wait for the next book to come out next month!

Another knock out of the park winner from Jess Michaels! This book had me actually laughing in my chair. And we finally get to read Crispin’s story! I’ve been wondering what’s been going on with him since the first Notorious Flynns book. Crispin Flynn once loved and lost a wonderful woman – first to marriage with another and then to death. And he’s never gotten over it. Instead, he’s found hollow comfort in whoring, drinking, and gambling, stumbling from one vice to another without a thought or interest in the consequences. Gemma was sold off by her father as a prized broodmare to an elderly Lord; but when that Lord died before any children were conceived, Gemma was tossed back to her family like day-old fish. And now she’s been sold off again, gambled away by her “loving” father in a game of cards to none other than Crispin Flynn! Crispin and Gemma are two deeply wounded souls who find it very difficult to open up to others, especially each other. I loved watching these two grow closer. Gemma is almost like a healing balm to Crispin, pushing boundaries when needed and comforting at other times. Crispin is exactly what Gemma needs too and together their love really heats up the pages. Wow! The sex scenes in this book are scorching hot, even a little kinky. I loved it. A gripping, emotional tale of love, betrayal, and what it means to be family. I enjoyed this book, but the word that keeps popping into my head when I think of the story is "sweet".  It had all the steaminess of a Jess Michael's novel, but it did not have the wow factor that I usually walk away with after completing one of her stories.   It was a quick read, and I actually forgot that I had completed it, so it did not stick with me the way most of her stories do. I was provided a free ARC of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.  Thank you.

This is the 3 book in the Notorious Flynns Book, I do recommend reading all three, however there would not be any problems reading it as a stand-alone. Crispin seems to be doing his best to destroy himself, he wakes up with a hangover to discover a beautiful woman in his bed, which is not surprising. Finding out she is his wife is. I was drawn into the story from page one and could not put it down. This book is emotional, suspenseful, very sexy and sweet. I loved it!

3.75* Another good book by Jess Michaels. Ms. Michaels has a knack for picking characters that are well matched and you root for them to make it as a couple. I really love the characters in this series. They are so much fun, loving and accepting of each other and welcoming to outsiders.  Crispin Flynn has avoided his family and drowning and gambling his life away for the last year or more. Gemma is back in her fathers home after to death of her husband who left her unprovided for. Gemma's father who is a conniving jerk and only interested gaining prestige for himself uses Crispin's problem against him and trick him into a unwanted marriage to Gemma. They are then left truly with only one option and have to some how make their marriage work to the best for both of them. They come to an understanding...passion but no love. Neither of them will risk their heart to another again. But what will happen when they start to care for each other's well being and want to make the other happy?  This is not a stand alone book and should be read in the series order.

Sizzling! I received an ARC of The Widow Wager, written by Jess Michaels, from NetGalle, in exchange for a honest review. Even, if I haven't read her previous two books, in her series The Notorious Flynns, I really enjoyed this one! I loved her main characters Crispin Flynn and Gemma, such passionate persons. Their love story is hot and sensual; the love scenes are very well written with a sizzling touch! When the scenes are very explicit, they are always written with the right words that will not shock you. Sparks flare all over! But the Flynn family holds secrets they don't want to be discovered. What will happen to Crispin and Gemma? The Widow Wager is all about romance, passion, scandals and secrets.

The Notorious Flynn series third installment is a welcome edition to the fold. The Widow Wager by Jess Michaels is in my opinion the best book in the series so far. The main characters Crispin and Gemma have taken on the weight of life and feel responsible for things that have happened and could not be changed. When they meet at the lowest point in their lives, each intrigues the other. The situation goes from bad to worst when Crispin and Gemma are forced into marriage due to a drunken bet Crispin made. Of course this is a Jess Michaels novel, so it is a very sensual read. Yet I found the deeper depth of two people hurting and finding love and redemption is the most unlikely place a lovely story. I would definitely recommend this book. A beautiful story of two broken souls that found salvation in each others arms. Received An ARC of The Widow Wager for an honest review.
