Andrea Craycraft isn’t the stereotypical young Southern lady of the 1700’s! One of five daughters of a South Carolina plantation owner, she is rebellious and independent, so when her parents inform her they’ve signed a marriage contract for her to marry the Earl of Rydover, a British relative of their neighbors, she’s having none of it. She knows that the Earl is likely to expect and demand the perfect lady, so she vows to be just the opposite. When she sees a man she thinks is the Earl swimming in a lake on her father’s property, she tells him she wants to see him naked, thinking her unladylike behavior will make him go running in the opposite direction. Unbeknownst to her, the man is not the Earl, but Michael St. John, a man whose family runs a successful shipping company. He’s come to meet with her father about transporting their cotton. Michael is smitten by the wild child of the man he’s come to meet, but he’s vowed he’ll never marry. The back and forth between these two marriage-averse people who can’t get enough of each other makes for very entertaining reading and especially some very hot love scenes! The supporting cast of characters is equally entertaining, especially Andrea’s mother! After a few scenes with her, the reader quickly sees where Andrea got her wild ways! And the Earl of Rydover proves to be quite the villain. The Wild Belle is the third installment of the very entertaining St. John series. I'm glad the St. Johns had a large family and hope that means we can expect more installments in this fun series.
