"The Wildlife Concert" is John Denver's second live recording (released 20 years after the first) and was recorded during two benefit concerts for the Wildlife Conservation Society in 1995. Like his previous live album, "An Evening with John Denver," Denver performs the songs straight forward with not much difference from the studio versions. He plays the hits like "Sunshine on my Shoulders" and "Country Roads" as well as some of his best if lesser known songs from the 1980s like "Dreamland Express." The version of "Rocky Mountain High" featured here is my favorite rendition of the song. One detraction is that the songs on the first disc, aside from the hits, are very somber and not as well constructed as some of Denver's other work. The second disc is quite excellent and includes the previously unreleased song "For You." Denver is more serious here than on his first live album but there are some fun audience interactions such as when he utters his 70s catch phrase "Far Out," and then follows it with "Did I say that, I didn't say that." Overall this album is geared more toward die-hard Denver fans but novices will not be disappointed.

I think Denver did a fine job with this concert. He sang his heart out! In my opinion, this concert could have launched a comeback for Denver. Although he has some lively performances on the disc, the concert is full of the hits that made denver a star in the 70s.

John captures in his voice, style and heart what mattered to him in life with this album. You ride the rollercoaster of life in the songs he performs. He takes you from the wings of an eagle to the pounding hooves of a stallion, from the lofty mountain peaks to the crashing waves against the bow of the Calypso. THE album for not only the utimate John Denver fan but for those of us who love the planet as much as he did.

My husband and I have been fans of John's since the beginning. The format is wonderful since it was his passion and love for the environment that we remember him the most for. Having been to his live concerts it was like being there again and hearing him perform. We love it and play it often.

If you even just kinda-sorta liked John Denver, this is a "must-have" DVD...... his sincerity, clarity, and message via music is a real blessing..... Beautiful songs with Pat Hawk doing a fantastic job on the background vocals... God bless you John Denver and band.... we miss you and thank you for this concert
