The Witch and the Cathedral by C. Dale Brittain

Love and wizardry don't mix--and neither do magic and the church. When the wizard Daimbert discovers the woman he loves is going to marry someone else, he flees to the nearby city of Caelrhon. Even though strange creatures of wild magic have been spotted in the city, no one wants him there, not the bishop of the cathedral, not the crown prince, not the city council, not even the masters of institutionalized wizardry. But Daimbert senses sinister forces at work, and besides, he's just met a very intriguing witch....

About the Author

C. Dale Brittain is both a professor of medieval history and a fantasy writer. "I've loved fantasy since I discovered Tolkien in ninth grade. My interest in the real Middle Ages was cemented by a trip to Europe with my family in high school. In my fiction I can be as anachronistic as I please, but real medieval history can create better plots than anything I could dream up." This volume is part of the Wizard of Yurt series, which continues in "Daughter of Magic."
