The World Is Great, and I Am Small: A Bug’s Prayer is a thoughtful and uplifting reflection on modern life and the human condition, as well as a lighthearted celebration of some of the many truly amazing insects with whom we share our planet (and without whom human existence would cease, almost immediately). In the form of a poem, this meditation is a charming ode to all those that creep, crawl, and fly. Accompanying the poem are stunning photographs of some of the world’s most beautiful and unique creatures. At the back of the book, an image key explains the various insects adorning the pages of this prayerful keepsake.

Our author, Bradley Trevor Greive, is an avid entomologist. He loves bugs! He also believes that God is nature, and that for true inspiration and awe, we should look at the vastness of nature, in all of its variety. Because insects out-number, by far, any other animal group on earth, and because they do so many essential things for the environment, our author finds inspiration in them. Thus, he has composed a prayer, in which various species of insects, complete with brilliant photographs of each species, serve as a different example of the mindfulness he would like to possess. I am definitely not an insect lover, but I found his wonder and loving words about God's tiny creatures, along with his beautiful photograph, a true and simple inspiration. I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an unbiased review.
