Overview

When Robert, Lord St. Clement, speaks tenderly to Miss Richmond, he believes her to be Jane, his bride-to-be; but it is Jane's elder half-sister Christina whose heart he breaks in those few heady moments. No sisters could be less alike.

Heiress Jane is an impetuous redheaded beauty, whereas dark-haired Christina is bookish, quiet, and quite plain. But they are intensely loyal to each other and determined to do the right thing, especially where Jane's arranged match with Robert is concerned. However, doing the right thing is always a problem for Jane, whose spur-of-the-moment escapades cause a shocking stir, especially when she meets dashing balloonist William Grenfell, who takes her on a soaring flight of fancy over the rooftops of Bath. Wherever Jane goes William is sure to turn up, and soon her reputation is in jeopardy. Christina has to protect her headstrong sibling, and do all she can to save the match with Robert, who seems to be playing a very duplicitous game with the hearts of both sisters! It takes a brush with danger to decide which Miss Richmond is THE WRONG MISS RICHMOND...

About The Author
Rebecca Baldwin is the pen name of Helen Chappell. Sandra Heath was born in Cilfynydd, Pontypridd, South Wales on 10th August, 1944. Her late father was an officer in the Royal Air Force, and at the age of eighteen, while living in Germany, she met her husband Rob, whose father was also in the RAF. They have been together for thirty-seven years (married for thirty-two) and live near the cathedral city of Gloucester, England. Their only daughter, Sarah-Jane, is now married and living in Lancashire. Sandra began writing in 1971, when two-and-a-half year old Sarah was dangerously ill in hospital with suspected meningitis. Having always avidly read historical novels, especially those dealing with the controversy over Richard III, writing such a novel herself offered a form of escape from the stress and anxiety caused by Sarah's illness. Sarah recovered, and the completed novel, called Less Fortunate Than Fair, the story of Richard's niece, Cicely Plantagenet, was accepted for publication. Sandra has been writing ever since, and loves every minute of it. She is often assisted by her two Siamese cats, who think a keyboard is for walking over/sitting on/knocking to the floor/depositing food on/you name it... However, they're a little short on helpful advice regarding plot, character development, and continuity! Still, one can't have everything.
