This book is a must-have on any professional bookshelf. The chapters are concisely written, with humor and the directness any busy professional appreciates (but is often not afforded in many settings). I wish I'd had this to reference at different points in my career. Now that I have it, it is an easy, insightful, inspiring read that will undoubtedly be referenced over time.Jacquelyn Gaines is an inspiration both as a working mother (see her daughters letters at the end) and a leader.  This would make a great book to gift to staff!

I just completed Jackie's newest book. It is practical, easy to read and something I wish I would have had access to early in my leadership career. Jackie is transparent, blunt, funny and provocative in her testimonials and examples of workplace encounters for women in leadership. I found the letter from Jenni to be the most profound and moving part of the book. Jackie must be so proud of her girls--and what a great example she has set for them. I am going to share your book with my sister-in-law who is new, green and naïve to the ways of the working world....bless her heart! You'll be an inspiration to her, I am sure. Thank you for writing this much needed, candid look at the reality of being a woman in business and leadership!

Refreshing and timely. A candid, insightful, invigorating, and thought provoking read from a health care advocate, administrator, and leader who continues to dispel "minority' myths and challenge the expectations of  the 'fortress'. Ms. Gaines demonstrates why and how she excels as a performance improvement coach for healthcare organizations by sharing her learning experiences as well as practical and (un)common sense observations and suggestions about leadership opportunities and realities in this new millennium.  A "must read" for folks (women and men!) who want to understand and (effectively) lead today's evolving workforce.

I read this book and instantly fell in love with it! It really showed me why I was having such a difficult time running my company. Jacquelyn is an expert in explaining how a lady should conduct herself when she is in a leadership role. And I used "lady" intentionally. I would definitely recommend this book to friends!
