This book is an honest book about honest people. The story line is great, complex but easy to understand and it's the kind of book that I could not put down. The family is wonderful and the book has drawn me in as if I were another part of the family. I love the subplots in the book - makes it exciting. I would want to share this with everyone I know.

This is the best book I've read in a long, long time.  It is laugh out loud but also tells a compelling story of a WWII widow trying to raise 4 kids.  I especially liked the subplot centering on an ex Negro League baseball player.  If you want a great read, get this book!

I read this book in just a few days, couldn't put it down! Enjoyed reminiscing about Tulsa at that time with my sister-in-law who grew up in that area. Great read!

Set in authentic 1950’s Tulsa, Then Sings My Soul is a fascinating glimpse of one summer for a family struggling to recover from the death of its patriarch.  Alternating between gritty realism and dreams of the future, this novel captures the tension present both in America’s past and present.  I definitely recommend this book!

Then Sings My Soul by Philip D. Smith is one of the best books I've read in a long time. It's one of the first books I've read that is based in Tulsa, with a lot of places I'm very familiar with. I couldn't put it down. I highly recommend this book.
